Broken Rod
My old pflueger rod has been broken for about two months now. It split between the fourth and fifth guide from the top. So there is a short piece with four guides on it. Everything else is fine though. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

No. even if you didn't lose length you'd have a rod with a "dead" spot.
That said, if the guides are of good quality carefully cut them off and save them. Someday, you may want to try your hand at wrapping guides, perhaps to upgrade a cheaper rod or replace a broken guide. FR |

That's what I thought. It's alright though. Can I do anything valuable with the cork?

You could cut it down to the first eye and use it with a plug knocker...that way the memories of the wonderful times spent with the 'green hornet' would be just a snagged crankbait away. Sorry about the Grumpy Old Men reference.
