Put your hands on this fat as...hush yo mowf!
I tried an elliptical insert on a personal build the other day. It might not look it, but this blank is almost 1" at the butt. This is the Seeker RFS-Glass 806 (8') H-Mod deep digger I am working on The same blank as at TW ). I should have the guides on it after I get home. I finished up a Lamiglas a while back, and while the grip shape doesn't have many curves, it is pretty comfortable to me.
And that banana in the background is a Castaway BB2 7'6" for flipping, and again for me.....and Hot Pocket, it's spiral wrapped for my comfort hahahahaha!!!!!

It is a healthy blank fo sho! I am ready to get it wrapped up (pun intended) and see how she handles the diggers.
Bama, if its aesthetics that turn you off from the split, to each his own. If it is comfort, I don't think you would ever know it was gone. The grips are 4" a piece and gonna have a 4" opening. You would never know it was missing. I need to weigh it, but burl tends to be heavier. I would rather keep the weight down in the back and have it a little tip heavy.

I happen to like the spiral wrap as it loads the rod evenly when a fish is on,as for a seeker rod yup they or mine(also a spiral wrap) can toss a country mile,on something like a glass rod the wider grips dont seem that extra wide as the blank is thicker.
Mine is tad over 7 ft is all, custom made few years back 110 dollars from a seminole in fla,and while limber its held up with 30 pd drum.Primary use here is tossing a gsplash at times a trap. Nice work |

This one will be a standard wrap. I like my tip ups spiralled like flipping, worming, buzz bait, etc.... As for drop tip, I like the standard. Maybe I should make a semi on a 90 and 270. That way I will be able to fish with a rod position at 3 on both sides of the boat hahaha.

Yes it is. I won't be able to turn this on the ALP tho. Just a little long. I really don't see much improvement other than applying finish. I do like how it stays locked down better threading guides. But there is a world of difference running a tiger.
