Lost my first swimbait bite..
I got my first swimbait bite , on my 4" TruTungston , I reeled in the slack and swept the rod tip to set the hook. It was a decent feeling fish. It came to the surface , and shook loose ? It was only a two pounder tops.... How did this happen ? I used a 7' MH rod , revo reel and 15# flourocarbon.

Hey man, losing fish happens. (that's why it's fishing, not catching ). You'll get the next one.

Same way you'll loose a bass when you use a crankbait, or jerk bait. You didn't get a great hook set. Oh well, wasn't that at least!
Better luck next time man!

I dont think ive ever lost a crankbait fish. But I dont throw cranks alot so , maybe I would lose more if I used them more. I just wondered if a Heavy action rod would be better..

I don't think you need a heavy for the 4" tunsten. While I am not the greatest fisherman, I don't think I have a bait where I haven't lost at least one fish on it. There are way too many variables to guess why it happens. Could be the hookset, the angle the fish hit the bait, or even a previoulsy hooked fish that had a large hole in its mouth.
I figure that if we caught every fish that hit the bait then we would eventually get bored with fishing.....well maybe not

Give the fish a little more time with the bait. One.......thousand.....one, One......thousand....two, One................thousand..........three and then set the hook while picking up slack the entire time. Should get 'em next time.

I think your rod is just fine and definately not what caused the fish to shake loose. It's just going to happen from time to time. A lot simply depends on how the bass struck your bait. I wouldn't worry about it.
