fish took bandits popper
Fishing Smith Mountain Lake this morning, Adam was using a top water popper and a fish just exploded on and never looked back. Adam
didn't stand a chance, his line came back cut clean as whistle. Could have been a muskey but we think it was a huge striper that SML is known for. We ended up with 2 in the boat and lost 2 at the boat. But we couldn't get over that blow up on that popper. It was awesome.

SML is known for big stripers-40lbers, so that's the reason we thought it might be a striper.

SML does have some nice stripers but I've never seen a muskie there. I hooked into one my first time down there and it spooled me three times before I locked the drag down and it shook the spinnerbait free. It towed my boat around the creek for about 2-3 minutes. If I had someone with me or a big net I probably would have caught it. I'm guessing it went 25lb+ or better.

First, I would scream and yell like an idiot. Second, I would then slump back in my seat for about half an hour in disbelief and exhaustion. Third, I would probably pack up and go home, because there's no way I'm going to top that. Oh and also because I'm gonna need a change of shorts.
