Sounds like it's South America or Mexico. I saw an article in the latest Outdoor Life I believe, about a fishing contest on the Illinois River. These are asian or silver carp and the sound of the boat/motor causes them to jump like that. The article was about a fishing derby fishing for these carp and whomever had the most fish in the boat won, only you couldn't use rods! Had to catch them with a net or hit 'em with a 2x4. I believe the winner had over 200 lbs of fish! |

Apparently they are an invasive species and they are ruining the habitat for the native fish. Director of the tourney said they can't even take a pleasure ride up the river without getting slimed up side the head by one of these carp. This tournament collected 1,200 of the slimy lads.
