Default Fish 'n Art

I've posted a few times about a guy I use to custom paint crankbaits and I wanted to post a couple pics of his latest work. He also does replicas and I think he does a pretty good job. He was at the latest flea market and I took a couple pics. Check out the bluegill crankbaits and enjoy the artwork.

They are hard to come by. Donnie started doing them after the Major asked him to custom paint a couple crankbaits. He made a few extra and they sold quickly. Let me know if you want contact info.

Wow those look amazing, and only $10 a piece. If only I had some money.

Will he paint hardbaits if I send him some for that price, specifically jerkbaits? Does he do a yellow perch pattern?

If so please send me his contact information.

Yes he does hardbaits. Matter of fact he had a couple bags of crankbaits that he had done for my electronics expert I refer too on occasion. Price is dependant on the difficulty of the paint job. Don't quote me but I'd guess between $6 and $8 per. I haven't seen a yellow perch but give him a call and ask him. My guess would be yes he can.
He's working on a custom paint job for me right now....Smitty Shad. Sweet color combo. Can't wait to see it when he finishes.

He sold that one at the flea market. He normally sells one or two displays at the shows.

When he fishes he's always looking for drift wood and other objects to use in the displays or mounts. Gives them a more realistic look. He paints each scale one at a time which gives the skin a texture that you would think was real.

That is one of the nicest replica bass I have ever seen.

But I have a question, which deson't reflect on your buddy's work, but more on the taxidermy thing as a whole.

Has anyone ever seen a matte finish mounted fish? I know that fish look shiny and glistening when we lift them up, because they're coated with water and slimy. But in the water, they're not shiny. I'm just curious how they'd look not shiny. And no, the old, dusty one on your grandpa's garage wall doesn't count.

I understand what you mean. I guess it depends on how you want yours done. I'm sure he'd do it that way. I'll ask him this weekend and see if he's done any like that.

**Heads up to all those who may have contacted Donnie** He got injured in the line of duty, chasing a bad guy, and did some damage to his knee. He will be having surgery next week and won't be doing any painting for a short period of time. So if you wanted to contact him give him a couple weeks and allow him to recover a little and get mobile again. Oh...they got the bad guy!!
