Default Fishing lake Guntersville

Hey guys, getting ready to head out to Guntersville in the morning,
Hows the lake? I'm going to fish in a tourney on Sat.
Going out with a guide on Fri. to pre-fish the lake.
Just wondering if there is any thing I should know before I leave in the morning.Did that storm that just came trough hurt the fishing? is the lake muddy? are they still in a post spawn pattern? ( shallow?) any tips would be appreciated!!!!

yeah a pretty good bit or rain. I'm not sure where the big bite is right now, if I knew I would be fishing it. I've been catching good numbers but only in the 3lb range. I do know some guys are on big fish and I would guess it will take 6-7lbs every hour. Don't know how much to take the big fish, maybe under 10 unless someone gets lucky. You fish G'ville much?

I hope to be there in June dont know for sure yet. This is a small tourney and maybe a boat full of 3-4 lbs. could win it. who knows. I have never fished the lake, but from what I read I think it may go on the list of lakes that get fished a lot more.

Just so you guys know the big fish splash will probably have about 200 boats in it tomorrow along with tournaments out of every other ramp on the lake...combine 1000 boats with 10 - 15 winds and it might be a little choppy. stay safe and good luck.............is it 4 yet? might sleep in the boat.

My Dad was over on the elk river this morning and said the fog was real bad over there - but they were busting topwater. FWIW

backinthesaddle, stay off my ridges and flats by the power lines on the main lake. Someone let you guys in on a little secret huh? Don't tell me you never fished G'ville before and just stumbled across that area!! I stayed downriver because of the fog so I didn't get anywhere near you guys. catch em on blades and lizards?

I cought 'em on blades, finesse worms, lizards, rattle traps, just couldn't catch em on the same thing consistently. the only consistent thing was throwing into the wind. and yes I asked around and found out about the flats. Its not where my big fish came from. that was up river pulling a blade off of drop offs into the channel. From about 4-6' into 20-24' of water. every fish we cought was doing something different. Hard day for someone out of the saddle for so long. But still better the the best day working!!!!

yeah sometimes they are on the ridges by the main channel like you said, and you pull blades or whatever of into the channel. When you're back again you can also catch them on the backside of the flats. Just depends on what mood they're in. sounds like you guys did better than us. We only weighed in 4 fish. Caught a bunch of dinks alllll day!
