Notre Dame --A 1st in BCS history
Notre Dame’s football program this week became the first in BCS history to earn a #1 ranking while having the nation’s top graduation rate. The Fighting Irish's 97% graduation rate is 26% higher than the average of the other top-five BCS programs, and this Saturday ND will face a USC team that will not graduate 43% of its players.
This is what it should be all about, getting an education. Keithdawg, I know this makes you proud.

I couldn't be prouder. Notre Dame has a history of being at the top or near the top for graduation percentage of it's athletes. It's part of what makes ND such a special place. Getting a top notch education is what college is all about. Athlete or not. Thanks for posting this Ron.

This is all great and a hearty congrats to ND, but I have one question. How do they know 43% of the USC players won't graduate? Does that mean they won't graduate in 4 years? Is there a link to more of the details behind these findings? I guess that was more than ONE question.

I think it is past graduation rates.
Last year in the SEC; Vanderbilt: 86 LSU: 77 Florida: 76 Alabama: 69 Georgia: 65 Auburn: 63 Mississippi State: 62 Kentucky: 61 Tennessee: 61 Arkansas: 56 Ole Miss: 54 *South Carolina: 39 Of course, Alabama lost a few underclassmen to the NFL, that hurts the rate a little.

I may be mistaken, but I think that is based on current seniors due to graduate.

My prediction. After the Irish defeat the Tide for the Championship, Bama fans and SEC fans are STILL going to say Bama is the better team. But we'll have the last laugh.

hahahaha! ol keith is having a time with this and i don't blame him one bit. congrats ont eh graduation rate. notre dame IS an EXCELANT school.
i hope USC doesn't spoil keiths fun, yeah....i want BAMA to do the spoiling. lol. BUT bama has ot get by auburn and georgia first. as for ohio state, i haven't watched them that much this year, dunno know why unless it's because of the probation or that they haven't been on tv because of the probation. but they are good and there is no doubt if they weren't on probation, they would most likely be playing for the national title. ohio vs notre dame would be a great game indeed. but i think nd would win.

OSU will be out of sight and out of mind after tomorrow. It is a shame for them, but we will never know if they were worthy because they will have played 2 fewer big games than whoever ends up being declared the National Champion.

Well, thats for the AP poll, but yes, true.
The AP will probably be the same as the BCS champ, who I guess wins the championship when they win the game.

The 2 teams that are in the BCS game are voted in also.

Well, they are more formulaed in, with the voting being a huge part of the formula...
We are sorta arguing without having much to argue about here, haha...

Yea...it used to be worse, they had the APR, where if you kicked a kid off your team for violating team rules, it hurt your rating cause it meant he wouldnt graduate...and if your APR dropped low enough, you could be penalized scholarships.
Which basically incentivised loose discipline.

I think OSU and Florida would be a good game. Ohio squeeked some wins out of some games that should have been blow outs. Just as, Florida squeeked some wins out of some games that should have been blow outs. I bleed orange and blue, but was born a Buckeye, so Im not trashing OSU. They both won some good games, but for the most part were mediocre in their weekly performance. Bama stumbled once, ND is over rated, Oregon is hype and flash. I really enjoyed watching Kansas St this year, solid program on and off the field(as far as we know). But with all that said and done.......Bama needs to win the SEC championship, so they can wax ND's sorry butt. Roll Tide, Roll!
P.S.- never ever will I type those words again, just happy to see the SEC continue their obvious dominance over all other divisions.

You know, I think Georgia could beat ND too. We are going to have a compelling NC matchup regardless.

BWAAHAHAHAHA!!! tomorrows game is gonna be a FIGHT. 2 great teams. i am excited and nervous at the same time. i TRULY don't know who will win. hoping bama wins of course, but georgia is VERY good.

One strange thing about the SECCG is, it is very rare that it is a close game. The last close game was probably, ALABAMA FLORIDA I, back in 2008.

Keith, I will not talk smack RE the game in Miami. This game is going to be too beautiful as a matchup to degrade with pettiness. This is why I love college football.

but i will only TALK OUT OF GOOD FUN. AND I WILL NOT DEGRADE NOTRE DAME NOR THEIR COACH OR PLAYERS IN ANY WAY SPITEFULL WAY.

I figure either way, I won't have to filter through 50 FB posts per day between you two. Talk about being caught between the hammer and the anvil.
