Thanks for all the replies. If I had my choices of anywhere to live it would probably be central to eastern TN or central to western NC. Unfortunately she has not had any interviews in those areas. I guess a lot of it depends on if she gets job offers, but TX and AL are looking pretty good right now, it's snowing again here.
It just seems a lot different down south since there are not so many natural lakes to live one, just big reservoirs.

Isn't Falcon only about an hour away? And Sugar Lake just across the border?

Cool thread.... but old!

Texas, Calli or Florida...... all in order!

1) Florida - Smack dab in the middle! Near a lot of the small lakes in un fished ponds! Along with the kissimi chain - armed with a 12 foot jon boat, and an 18 foot bass boat! Why? It's My kinda place (duh ), lots of vegetation, and big honkin' bass!

Texas - within 30 minutes of Lake Fork, WITH a bass boat! Why? Big 'Ol pigs in there! And it also really looks like my kinda place to fish!

Calli - near clear lake, and the delta. And of course with a bass boat! Why? The delta looks like a flippers parricide!! And this huge fish in there is pretty good too! And clear lake.. swimbaits, and bigs!

Well you guys all got it wrong

He chose NY and even colder snowier weather than Michigan.

Check the dates on the thread, like 2008.

Yes. I moved to WAY upstate New York last summer. It gets colder than you can imagine and this was a mild winter. Plus there are a million laws and regulations around here. I still think ideal would be somewhere in Tennessee or NC/SC.

That would depend on how you are with allergies. The Pine pollen is kickin bad right now.

Hows this for a blue recycle container?

Depends on your preference... if you like a bit smaller town feel, try TX or AL, if you don't mind a little snow and cold, then KY.

Either way there is decent fishing at these 3 spots, not sure about the rest.

yeah we got plenty of that here too 1/4stick

Man I hate that pine pollen. We had some trees by my shop in Michigan that were bad one year and when the wind blew you could barely see the sky through all the yellow in the air. Plus pine needles get into everything! It's been the better part of a year since I parked under Pines in Michigan and I'm still finding pine needles in the car.

Probably Missourri. Build a cabin on Lake of the Ozarks. Or as close as I could afford to anyway.

If I did have to move, I would go with TX. I wouldn't mind living on the outskirts of some of the bigger cities. There is a ton of water and a bunch of opportunities for the kids to find something they enjoy. They are limited in small town USA. And as long as they don't go goth on me, it will be alright.
I just noticed how old this was too, after writing.

Well, once again, late to the party......but, I'll throw something out anyway.

Go wherever your wife will get the most pay, so you can work less and fish more.

After nearly 9 months up here in the arctic we are moving in May to Meridian, Mississippi. Not looking forward to the move but looking forward to being there and all the fishing opportunities down in the deep south.

Hey Hey Bender, good to hear. Thats a pretty good location, especially if you are willing to drive within a days range there are big opportunities in every direction.

(PS, I think I heard Bay Springs lake to the north has smallmouth....I know pickwick does and they are connected via a canal)

I know this is an old thread, but I am just reading it for the first time. Bender I know you love those SM so as I was going down the list an saw KY as a natural, but then I saw York PA. Although you may not be able to use your gas motor around here (the reservoirs, potomac whole different story / fishery) but the areas electric only lakes hold high quality SM and LM for that matter. In fact liberty reservoir which is a part of a 3 lake chain holds the state record smallmouth(MD 45 min south of york). Plus you have the Susky in Harrisburg w/ a bps an hour away.

That's about an hour and a half from me, Bender, and about 30 minutes from where my mom's family grew up. Once you get settled, maybe we can meet up at a lake somewhere for a day...

Sounds good, once I get settled in I plan to get over that way to hit Ross Barnett. It looks like there are a few places around Meridian too with Okatibee and the river to the east plus many smaller lakes.

Now is the hard part, trying to find a house down there with a garage.

Dad's a native of the Ackerman/Tupelo area. You're bound to run into some family there, (family tree goes straight up down there). Say HI for me.
