Thumbs up Congrats to the Texiz Aggies!

They took second among a tough field and represented the Lone Star State well.

You'll be blown away by the water selected for the final round. Talk about shootin' 'em in a barrel! I've nevAr heard of such a choice for a tourney, but I'd sure like a shot at it!

Gig 'em!

How the hell does Jeff Aul still fish for Alabama? He enrolled with me and punted for the football team for a couple years, and he's still in school?

To think I emailed him about joining and he said I couldnt cause I had graduated.

The University of Oklahoma's bass fishing team ran into tough luck in the Under Armor College Bass National Championship on Lake Maumelle in Little Rock, Ark.

The OU team of Chip Porche and Mark Johnson finished 36th in the three-day tournament which concluded Friday with only the top five teams advancing to the final day of fishing.
The tournament was won by a hometown squad from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Weights were reset for the last day of fishing, and UALR students Jeremy Reese and Trent Gephardt caught 21.2 pounds of bass to win the title. The pair were fifth after two days of fishing and barely made the cut to be able to fish on Friday.
A dead battery on their boat left the Sooner squad stranded on the lake during the first day of the tournament Wednesday and they didn't make the weigh-in deadline.
"We were pretty much left out there, and we ended up DQ'ed for the day,” Porche said.
A zero on the opening day of the tournament ended their chances of finishing high in the event, where Porche had competed and finished fifth last year.
Two-man teams from 54 colleges and universities from across the country competed in the tournament. Porche and Johnson were the only anglers representing an Oklahoma school.
OU won the first Big 12 bass fishing championship on Lake Eufaula last month.

If any team could afford new Optimas, they could. Shoulda, coulda, woulda...but didn't. Heh!
Lesson learned, one hopes.
Strange that no other team offered a tow or a jump-start. Bad manners to be sure.
Maybe some wanted payback for some past arse-kickin's on the gridiron...waffle iron...curling iron...5-Iron...wot-tever. Y'think?
I hope the gas crunch and other economic issues don't torpedo the college bassin' game. Many sponsors are feeling the pinch and things might get dicey. Help out if you can!

it was nice to see the locals from UALR win that one in our own backyard. and it was also the first time an arkansas team has won it overall. wasn't the razorbacks but i'll take it.
