There was an article on yahoo today about those giant stingrays and an expedition to try and discover the worlds largest freshwater fish.

Speaking of big fish, has anyone else ever had experiece with Gulf Sturgeon? I had my first in Florida, they were jumping like crazy - I'm talking fish that were around 5 foot long jumping 4 and 5 feet in the air.

I saw an article in a magazine about those, WTL. Really neat looking fish! They're only in certain rivers, right?

Yep, I caught one just a little smaller than that down the road last week from my house. She weighed just under 300 pounds. It put up a great fight on my 4' 6" ultralight with 4 lb. test line. Hooked her on a #14 hook, with a wax worm, while gill' fishing. Didn't have the net so i had to lip her...

They have actully knocked people out of their boats!!! Big problem here in the spring. Killed a lady this year and a guy last year, if you on shore they are fun to watch.

Ive been in a boat, and saw one swimming around. Couldnt get anyone to believe me though

Also, While fishing in florida this past week I saw about a 4' + alligator gar cruisin the beach. I know they are in some bays, including mobile bay, but never seen one in the surf. Just a wierd surprise for me.
