Fishing the point as it is called, requires those who dare fish it to follow some basic rules. The guy with the shorts and spinning rod is unaware of any unwritten rules.

Casting is done at the top of the drift and when a fish is on you move forward into the surf so others can avoid tangles. But as you can see converging waves can soak you good. And add a newbe and things get interesting.

I have been scolded, cursed at and told to go fish somewhere else on a few occasions. I deserved it for being stupid..

The last part where the guy sets his rod down in the sand is just crazy.

i love it.. if your afraid to get wet don't go.. as you notice the point is assulted by waves both coming from the south and the north at the same time -they are not coming straight in-the cap hat point is one of the greatest places to surf fish on the east coast...but as capt mike pointed out there is an set standard of rules...

I would be bothered by how crowded it is, but the waves arent so bad. I've waded to neck deep before and cast and retrieved with my arms above my head - getting wet aint a problem. Wouldn't fish there with my gear though.

Need to add that third element where the sand under your feet gets washed out.. and you slowly sink with every wave...it will wear you down after three hours of back steping out of the holes in the sand..

That's Buxton Point right Capt Mike? Been there and done that. Back in my drinking days I had far more cool water samiches then caught fish but the fun was watching all those pointy heads getting tangled up and fighting it on the point. I've never been there when it was good nevertheless... not my kind of fishing really. I don't drink anymore so it wouldn't be as fun now!!

That video reminds me of opening day of trout season without the waves and smaller fish.
