Default Football Jig Storage

I have been accumulating a pretty substantial number of football head jigs. I like to store them all in the Falcon FTO Soft case. The problem is that the larger jigs(3/4ounce-1 ounce) have to large of a head to fit in the slots. Any suggestions as to your favorite ways to store these chunks of lead?

i keep mine in 3600 boxes as well. i keep them organized by putting seperate weights in seperate boxes, and i also keep finesse skirts seperate from full skirts. i do the same thing with my roundhead finesse jigs. i actually have to use more than one box for certain sizes but it keeps them seperated and it's easy to find what you are looking for really quick.

I have missed this whole football jig concept outside of using for spider grubs ? Those are in my hook compartment of a 3600 box.

Do you skirt them like a regular jig to need a whole individual football jig compartment ?

If so ,what are the advantages of a football jig over a normal jig ?

what do you consider a normal jig? i assume you are talking about an arkie head because that is what most people call a regular jig. a football jig comes through rock a ton better than any other head style i have ever used. i only use 2 jig styles, a football head and a roundhead finesse jig. the football head will have either a full skirt or a finesse skirt i use both and modify both at times. i use the roundhead jig a lot too mainly in places i don't have to have a football jig. i don't pitch a flip jigs much in heavy stuff, that is where i use t-rigs but when i pitch and flip to isolated objects i use a roundhead jig here too. and i keep them all in seperate boxes so it is easier to find what i need since i would have to have the same amount of jig boxes anyways it is just more simple to keep them seperate.

Hey thanks for the reply C-rig. I basically pitch to everything using the standard grass jig head.I have been known to switch to a wider asprin type head when fishing sparse short weed clumps, shallow shoreline, skipping & pitching under docks. The lakes are usually deep natural lakes here so the target areas are rapid tapering shorelines and thick weed infested flats.I do fish football heads deep for smallmouth ,but prefer a spider grub, or single tail grub rather than a skirted jig for that application.

There is no right or wrong way to fishing jigs. I just keep plugging away, trying to figure out the presentation and depth pattern, the fish will tell me what is right when I stumble across it. Ivan

we don't really have much grass at all around here to deal with so you don't see a lot of grass jigs around here. we do throw spider grub type baits a lot and they are deadly on small mouths here as well.
