A strong powerpro line anything above 50lbs it's the pole you got to be worried about make sure you got the right rod for this application for fishing or your going to have a broken pole. Corn, Cornmeal, hot dogs, they like lots of things laying on bottom. Try searching on the net under carp habits, of how to catch carp. you will be surprised on how much info you will find.

Depends a lot on what you can call "Asian" carp, "Asian" describes nothing in particular and everything.

Good luck trying to catch silver carp and big head carp ( Hypophtalmicthys molitrix and Aristichthys nobilis ) with bait, they eat plankton, some say that silver carp accepts bread crumbs but I wouldn´t bet on it.

Probably you could catch grass carp ( Ctenopharyngodon idellus ) with some sort of dough or peas or some kind of vegetable since they are vegetarian.

You may catch black carp ( Mylopharyngodon piceus ) with water snails, they eat those.

Common carp ( Cyprinus carpio comunis ), Mirror carp ( Cyprinus carpio specularis ) and big belly carp ( Cyprinus carpio robusts ) can be caught with doughbait, sweet corn, worms.

Well I'll have to disagree with zilla... I have caught some big ones(50+ inches) with an ultralight rod and reel spooled up with 8 pound test. But, I fish for the enjoyment of the fight, and dont normally try and horse my fish in. You WILL NOT have a broken pole if your drag is set accordingly, but be careful if these rocks are snaggable. I use french fries freelined with a very, very small gold hook.

Carp also eat broadhead fish arrows. You just have to force feed them....
