60hp merc 2-stroke hard to start
I am running a 2-stroke 60hp mercury big foot on a 2006 bass tracker pro team 175. No matter when I try to start it, I have to choke it. I know when you first start it, it needs to be choked, but even after just starting it and shutting down, it needs to be choked to start. If i dont choke it, it doesnt start. Any suggestions?

I would run some carbon gaurd through and use the shock treatment recommendation. This is a good place to start, it could just be a carbon build up issue.

Are you using an additive such as StaBil Marine, which is formulated for E10 gas? If no, you need it with every tank of gas. It makes a world of difference in now the engine performs. Not the regular, but the Stabil Marine (it is blue). I have been using it since it hit the market and have had no problems with my Yammie 60hp. Before that I used StarTron as soon as E10 hit our pumps.

sounds like you have a restriction in the fuel system somewhere...run a portable gas tank to your motor and see if the problem goes away

I have a 25hp motor and have the same problem , it is a merc as well. Never , ever starts without choke. It makes it a bit rought to run by yourself in a windy day. Have to troll out from the shore and then "try" to get the outboard to start.
