OK, boys and girls, here is an old school question for you
Back in the day there was a fishing snack you were almost required to take out on the water with you: A can of Vienna Sausages. Anybody still take these out when fishing? I have not in years. Don't know why I thought of this-maybe reminiscing about times gone by. Anyway, just curious. I'm sure Bama had them on the water a time or two. Some of you young guys may not even know what I am talking about

You guys actually eat when fishing? I'm too hard core to eat or drink, piss or p**p when I go fishing, lol. j/j I love vienna sausages but I never thought to bring any.
If I do bring food, I try to bring things that don't need to be touched by my fingers that then go into my mouth. All the nasty germs and microbes out there that can get on your hands is a scary thought, sanitizer or not. Bananas are ideal and no, I don't have a boat, so I am not affected by the superstition, lol.

It's kind of 'spam' in sausage form.
Some claim they were the original hotdog. Most say frankfurters were first.

Bastard cousin of Beenie Weenies.
I never could stand them. But we had our own tradition, though I don't do it any longer. Sardines. Dog'n'Suds Root Beer.

I eat those things when fishing still...I just hate that nasty "glaze" that they have on them (whatever that crap is). Did try to microwave once...that didn't go well.

The only time those things get on my boat is when we go after catfish - great catfish bait, but I didn't know they were for human consumption...

yes rebb....growing up there were the staples....3 cans of vienna's, 3 cans of van camp pork n beans, 3 bags of chips, half a loaf of bread, and SHASTA colas. and of course catsup. why 3 of each? well there was me, my brother and my father. hence the 3 of each.if i didn't eat all the vienna's, i DID hook pieces on ahook for some gills. bread balls too, lol! man...thinking about this takes me back...to a simpler time. i miss those days too. we had so much fin then. no cell phones, no internet...i wonder how in the world did we get through it all? hahahaha!!!

I hear you, John. My wife and I were discussing that the other day-like the Tim McGraw song "I miss back when". Hadn't thought about Shasta Cola in years-drank it all the time as a kid. We were talking about Christmases we remember like those you see in commercials and Christmas documentaries-the old 8mm film clips us old guys remember so well. Sigh-I really do miss back when.

Never ate them while fishing. In fact, not sure I ever ate them. haha But I did always take Hostess Hohos. Now it's a sandwich and a couple candy bars, along with some water and Mountain Dew.

hotess is making a comeback aren't they? weren't they bought out in the end?
yeah, hard to find a shasta cola now rebb. we used ot drink them things ALL the time. grape, orange were my favorites. during the winters, me, my brother and dad would make us some HOGIE sammiches, BIG ONES, each of us had a BIG bag of chips and a couple of SHASTAS each. dad built in the basement of the old house and we used it as a den. MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL was the event of the evening...sammiches, chips and shastas....howard, dandy don on the tv.....MENS NIGHT. shouting at the tv, cheering the team we wanted to win that night.....never to be the same in these days. oh the memories........excuse me now, gotta go cry for a bit. lol.

Thanks. They look pretty good to me. I know I've eaten similar stuff but with different names.
