Pond Fishing
What do you guys use mostly for ponds? My pond is pressured greatly by spinnerbaits but they still hit inline ones so i use a firetiger colored mepps and lucky craft sammies as well as a rapala jointed minnow in silver. The minnow seems to catch the most bass.

slider worms or other finesse style baits,A floating worm when it warms up.A lizard would be a good choice also.

I treat pons just like big lakes or reservoirs. A bass is a bass and they have the same moods. A bass in pons are affected the same way by weather, season and human influences! If there is a cold front or alittle fishing pressure I'll use some finesse tactics, if the water is muddy I'll throw big dark lures, if its a hot summer day I'll fish the coontail by throwing a scum frog or buzzbait and then work the edge with a texas rigged worm.
Alot of people think you have to just throw smaller baits, but infact alot of big bass inhabit ponds and they are willing to bite big lures with stout line!

my fishing partner and i fish alot of local ponds..we use crankbaits...baby -1's...and texas rigged sweet beaver baits on a wide gapped hook...we catch em like crazy...also if it's late in the evening we throw topwater poppers, and buzzbaits....they bite on just about anything we throw at different times...try everything and when you get one...go with it...good luck...

Try a texas rigged 7.5 culprit worm in red shad. I've never met a pond bass that didn't love em!! They work equally as well in resevoirs in the summer months.

Another spinnerbait you might want to try is a new spinnerbait by Red River called a Bite Size. It's a small bait but it's got a heavy head. About the only place you can get them is at BPS I think.

Try this and it works in lakes too. Go buy Zoom's speed craws. Texas rig em on a 3/0 EWG hook.(trust me on the size and the EWG) I found myself using this rig alot last year. You can retrieve it slow and steady, let it fall into weed pockets, stop and go, topwater, it's pretty versatile and very weedless. One thing I've noticed though, and it did happen alot, they hit it a ton and won't be there on the hookset. If they do this , then when they hit just let the thing fall and they pick it right back up.
I also tried the Horny Toad rigged like this and it didn't seem to produce as well for me. |

Man I've missed you. Nobody knows how to get PNJ going better than you But now he's even buying Shimano's and admitting to it. Says he's gonna trade them Not sure if I believe that Actually caught 2 bigger than that one 2 days later within about 30-45 minutes of each other You gotta come down and fish. Lizards

I think after reading all these posts and catching pond bass with all these same baits, I'm beginning to notice something. Pond bass eat everything!!! And they're not nearly as picky as larger lake fish.

T-rig just like most other things, just make sure the "claws" are facing away from you on the retrieve, if that makes sense to ya. You can also use em on a Carolina rig(really good for dragging, since crawfish run along the bottom). I like fishin em weightless, but if need be you could throw a little bullet weight above it, but I'd definitely peg it.
