Default Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine

Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine

Hello Everybody,

Hebrews 12; Verses 12-13: Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed.

Well Saturday the bite was real good even though only males were caught up to about 4 lbs. Seems like it is taking unusually long this year with the earlier hard freezes and high water, to just go crazy with Bass moving in.

It has been a trickle here and a trickle there. The Hagers were in the boat this week and about 20 Bass came to the boat and the Biggest was caught by Fritz Hager the 1st. He caught it on a popper bug with a fly rod. That was something to see. I had 3 generations in my boat with Fritz the 1st, Fritz the 2nd and Jack Hager all from the Dallas area.

Bass were hitting white and Chartruse spinnerbaits worked in from 1 foot to 4 foot deep. Some schooling Bass were seen and we caught about 8 with 3 keepers in the bunch. Nichols makes a great spinnerbait and it was really working. We also caught 3 crappie with one almost 2 lbs. on those spinnerbaits and some whitebass besides the Black Bass. It was a great day in God's Creation.

Today the rain came down for about the first 3 hours and soaked us good. Fritz Hager the 2nd and 3 of His sons were fishing with me. Water temps were 65-72 depending where you were fishing. Nichols Salty Mother Sinkers 5 inch in Green pumpkin pepper and watermelon Candy caught some. Spinnerbait worked the best.

One day chicken and one day feathers , go figure. We all had a great time and I expect anyday now with water temps in the 65-70's the Bass Population will make its move and they will be in pretty steady.

Well God Bless and remember Jesus loves you and the devil is a liar. For bookings for Lake Palestine or Sam Rayburn call me at 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203 or E-Mail me. Don Mattern Sr. with Mattern Guide Service.
