Decided I'm going to try to hit Lake Cumberland for a day before Dale Hollow, and I want to target some big Stripers.
I hear the Striper fishing is insane in early May, with them getting their last meals on before the spawn. If any of you have any experience there, please let me know. I'm rigged such that I can pull planer boards, use downriggers, stop and throw at them...whatever it takes. Just curious what techniques have worked for you. (I realize there will probably be few who have gone Striper fishing on Cumberland, but I know somebody out of this motley crue must have.)

Thanks for the tip, but Cumberland is actually on my way to Dale Hollow from Evansville, IN. Norris and Cherokee are way on the other side.

Yeah sure are but still the very best of the top striper lakes, just about all the lakes in tn have some, goodluck on your quest.
I had one break an 8-9 weight 8 ft fly rod here on ky lake, dahlburg diver. Cumberland at times gets log jams real bad. |

By the way, Lilmule...you should get on our bass chat sometime. It's a good place to talk smack and I'm sure I could learn a thing or two from you.

Well, shoot! It looks like my Cumberland plans are shot, thanks to the weather. The forecast for Sunday is 80% chance of T-storms with 25 mph wind. Not exactly great.
Oh well, I guess if Dale Hollow is not kind to us, maybe I will leave a day early there and catch Cumberland on the way home.
