Bait monkey sent me some fly tying goodies.
Actually it was an old girlfriend that sent it...lol. She found a cigarbox with some fly tying stuff inside for $2 at a garage sale and emailed me to see if I could use any of it....I said for $2 grab it and sent it my way, I'd make some use for it....lol....It arrived today.
First off I like the Arturo Fuente cigarbox everything came in....lol. I've never been a cigar smoker,so I have no idea if this is an old box or something new, but its cool and I'm going to keep it. Most of what was inside was from Orvis.....got 3 bobbin holder thingies, and some thread, plus a small and large pair of black clamps of some sort...I still gotta figure out what they are for....several packs of feathers, and what looks like some bleached out bucktail or something...and a chunk of what might be fox fur, plus a package of fly hooks.....I figure it was worth $2. Although, now that its arrived, I'll probably reimburse her for the $14.95 she had to pay USPS to ship it from Texas to Arkansas....

Hahaha....I hear ya Bob.....Although this girlfriend falls into the "One I let get away" catagory...lol....We just started communicating again after almost 30yrs when she found me on Facebook. My wife has known all about her for years, and doesn't have a problem with me having a long distance friendly relationship with her, Although she did give me a "Look" when she got the mail and said "You got a package from Lynn"!....LOL

Cool find for only $2, that postage price seems a little steep though. Be sure to post some flies when you start working with it!

Since you're a bass man I say tie jigs... Now you need to make a vice from my tutorial.

I liked your tying clamp you built...very ingenius. I've got my own DIY clamping system that uses an Xacto knife handle as the clamp.

I use them for holding crankbaits while I airbrush them....they work quite well as a mini clamp.
