They might be better than LSU, but they also might finish 3rd in their division. What might happen is LSU and Alabama neither one win their division or conference and still play for the NC. I don't see a playoff system anytime soon either.
I do think the best matchup for the NC game would be LSU and ALABAMA.

Pretty sure bama can still win the div..if they win and lsu loses then they'll be ranked higher in the bcs and that'll give em the tie breaker

I dont think the "didnt win their conference" argument holds water here.

That argument effectivly requires that the two teams in the big game come from different conferences. But where, as here, one conferance and especially one divisuon is so dominant, requiring that the teams come from a different conferance would lead to a mismatch and a poorer game than the rematch.


Also remember just how close the ua-lsu game was. If that interception was called a catch, bama wins that game. And that play was 50/50 the wrong call.

Your right it doesn't hold water in the current system. But the current system
stinks to high heaven. With a playoff system you would get a true champion
