Default 10+ lbers with Pics!

Hey Guys,
Haven't been posting a whole lot this spring as I've been way to busy catching fish! The year started off slow...my night time bite tapered off and I just couldn't get the day time bite going. Slowly but surely the cards began falling into place and the fish followed suit. I've had three baits stand out this year as proven fish catchers and I thought this would be a great time to share them with you. I know, I know, some of them are too big for a lot of guys. But trust me, they work!
Oh, and before you ask, most of these fish came out of the California Delta, but a few came from the local lakes as well.

The three baits are as follows:

Dirty Jigs: I've talked about these before, and will continue to do so as I truly believe they make a difference in my fishing. I catch more top-end bass on these baits than on any other I've ever found. They flat out work!
Check them at www.dirtyjigstackle.com
By the way, the 12.4, 11.4, 9.0 , 8.3, and 7.5, and 7.0 fell for them!

Baitsmith Magnum: This is a new trout pattern swimbait. This one might be a little big for some of you guys but lets face it, big baits for big fish! You'd be blown away by how many 2-3 lb fish I catch on this bait as well. These can be found at www.baitsmith.com The 11.5, 11.3, and 8.7 fell to this bait!

Black Dog Baits Lunker Punker: This bait is a large walk-the-dog bait. However, it isn't so large that it can't be fished nation wide for big largemouth. Its a size/sound profile that the fish just haven't seen and its highly effective. The bait that has been working was custom wrapped by Swimbaits Inc. in the "Stocker Trout" color. It was responsible for the 10.1, 9.6, 8.5, and 7.3 seen below.

Hope you guys have been having an awesome Spring and are catching the biggest fish in whatever system it is you may be fishing. Doesn't matter if its 2 lbs or 20 lbs, if that's what your system holds, its a trophy!

Haha those baits were huge. I just favor smaller baits. I don't go any bigger than a 3/4 oz. lure.

Haha, you guys crack me up!
Catching monster bass with any consistancy takes a LOT of effort. You can't just tie on a big bait and expect it to work consistantly at first... it will take time. However, I have shipped these baits to friends all over the country and what do you know... they work! I've got as friend in Wisconsin who is catching fish on the Baitsmith swimbait. Its BIG, but what do you know, his 2-5 lbers eat it!
I know its hard to build the confidence, it was for me too, but if you make the decision you can change the face of your fishing forever.
And btw, blemished lunker punkers are on sale right now direct from the company. You should seriously consider getting one. I catch 1 lbers on them all day long, its a topwater. Fish don't care how big a topwater is, they will kill it!

The hardest thing you'll have to do is convince YOURSELF that they will work. The fish already know. I have friends all over the South, including all over Florida and the Carolinas that consistantly catch big bass on swimbaits. No skin off my back if you never throw them... but 10 years from now when they're on every boat deck, remember, someone took the time to tell you first.

Just check the website for more blemished baits and I don't see them but I'm sure if you check some of the online retailers that carry black dog baits you'll be able to find them at the discounted price. Sorry, I'm not on their staff or anything so that's all I know.

Great fish and pics Matt. Have you had any issues with the eyeletts on your lunker punker's comming loose? That was my only complaint on the bait.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
As for the punker... I have had that in the past. I've probably got 8 or 9 punkers. When I get a new one now I pull the hardware, place a little epoxy in the hole/on the threads then put the hardware back in place. After doing this step I never have any problems.

Hey mat, great catches and I've often wondered do you fish any of the tournaments out you're way? I'd say you'd be in the money for sure!

JB,
I occasionally fish tourneys out here... at least a couple a year. In the past few years I fished a LOT of them but these days I'm just relaxing. I got into business for myself and quickly found out that fishing with friends 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) was way more fun than competing on weekends!

Yes sir, that's photo background editing at work. A lot of people have this idea that in California its easy to catch giant bass. In reality, only a handful of people are consistantly catching them. In Northern California where I live, its really tough this year. As such, people study photos, videos, follow us around the lake, and make it virtually impossible to fish the spots that I've found without a dozen other people imitating my every move.
So yes, unfortunately I'm forced to edit out the backgrounds of my photos so that I can continue to catch big bass on the water I've worked so hard to understand.
