Thump!
Nothing like the bite from a flathead on a jig. Fishing a local lake this morning when this thick, healthy flattie slammed my home made jig and proceeded to put on a fight that took me back and forth across the cove and gather an audience.
She was 25 1/4 pounds and released after the picture. I caught plenty of bass too, this 4.16 was the biggest one, on the same jig . My buddy Jon and I fished Thursday too. I got REALLY close to upgrading my big bass contest entry with this porker smallie. |

Congrats! Looks like you had some great outings. I bet that cat really put up a fight.

I wish. One of them used to be a private lake but recently sort of became public. You still have to buy a day or year permit to fish it. I paid almost $100 for my year boat/fishing permit the first time out there. I have to fish it 2 more times to make it worth the money, otherwise I could have just bought the day use permits.
The other one is in the middle of the city and gets pounded every day by all kinds of fishermen, but I still find ways to put fish in the boat |
