Where's everyone at? Anybody near Grand Traverse County?
I'm in Benzie County actually but if you've never
A-Lived there
B-Heard banjo music while on a canoe trip,

I'm down in Mid Michingan - Lansing area. Get up to TC often for work and pleasure. Have a cottage on Higgins Lake. We have a club tourny on the Elk chain this year as well. Last year we were at Duck Lake.

What lakes do you fish?

Nice! I haven't fished a ton of lakes around here since I've always fished boat-less but this year is gonna be different.
Shore wise, I fished Turtle, Mud and Bass lakes last year. Spent most of my time on the Betsie River below Grass Lake . I was pleasantly surprised in the sport I found on the Betsie. Caught 3 Rockies that qualified for the Master Angler List, as well as several Largemouths and smallies.
Once spring hits, I'll be boating all of the above mentioned as well as Green Lake and the backwaters of the Manistee River.
You're familiar with Elk Lake then? I'm gonna fish those stumps near the boat launch in town this year. I expect big things

Wow, you are way up there! But you are near some of the best smallmouth fishing areas anywhere IMO. I know several people that fished Glen, Ann, and Leelanau last year. Plus you are near Grand Traverse Bay, one of the best spots for catching tons of smallies. I wouldn't be suprised to see a new state record come from your area, say a 10 pounder from Charlevoix. You can do it!
Some day I need to get up there and fish that part of the state. The closest I have been is Burt/Mullet though.

Ann's another lake I plan on hittin this year. A buddy of mine and I plan on takin a campin trip up to The Burt and Mullet Lake area this year.
GT Bay is out of the question until I buy a real boat though.

Freon, where do you fish around Lansing? I'm usually on Lake Lansing most of the time. If I'm not there I'll toss a line at Hawk Island.

I have mostly been going to Thornapple and Narrow lake.
I stay clear of lake lansing...too many pwr boaters.

I only got my fishing boat last year and only got out about 5 times
so hoping to go out more this year.

plan on hitting Morrison lake next, north of lake odessa.

Might go out to Narrow lake this weekend if my new fish finder shows up in time. Gotta play with the new toys ya know.

Check out Lake Ovid too up near Laingsburg. It is a no wake lake and has some decent fishing.

I've only been there twice, but it is a really nice place and I'd like to go back.

What I want to know is, being up in the heart of steelhead country, why in the world are you fishing for bass?! No offense to bass, I love 'em. but If I lived in northern MI I'd do one of two things: 1. fish for steelhead like every day. or 2. move out of MI.

Screw steelhead. Nothing fishes better than bass. Besides, it's completely different. You want steelhead, you gotta hit the river or the big lake for the most part.
You want bass you can go to about 20 different lakes within 30 minutes

I'm all set bud. Shouldn't have much trouble selling that down in your area. I'm guessing you're familiar with Flint Hooters?

Me either! (Parmesan Garlic Wings are awesome!)
Good friend of mine lives in Grand Blanc, we tend to gravitate there from time to time.
I'm seeing a Hooters trip in the cards Memorial Weekend

Me either.

Last time in that one they suckered me into buying a calendar. At least I got every girl working that night to come over and sign it.
