Default The Show

My dad and I headed up the fishing show near Detroit today.

Tackle wise, the majority of it was trout and salmon stuff for the big lakes. There were a ton of boats.

KVD was there, and gave a seminar about spinnerbaits.

My dad was looking for a dropshot rod, and we looked at the Fenwick Elite Tech and the G.loomis. Both very sensitive, light, and well balanced rods. But after the seminar, my dad was wondering if he should get a spinnerbait rod instead...

Anyways, I wasn't really looking for anything, except some good deals. I found a couple Falcon Caras for $120 from $200. I also looked at the Shimano Cumara, some Revos (the new premier is awesome). the booth with the most bass rods and reels wasn't giving anything over 20% off, while I almost got a Pflueger Arbor or Supreme for my DS rod, I didn't.

The best deal I ended up getting was on an LC Live Pointer 110. They had the small ones on sale for 9.99 but no price on the 110's. I asked and the guy said he'd go 11.99 for it. Being a $22 lure, I had to go for it. All their other LC's were only $2 off.

So the baitmonkey didn't get much out of us today, and we probably spent more getting in and on food than we did on tackle.

LC Live Pointer 110 - $12
Spro Bronzeye Frog - $6
Yum Fat Money Minnows - $5
Poor Boy's Silly Rabbit (swimbaits) - $4.

Oh, and about $10 worth of ice fishing bluegill jigs for tomarrow's trip.

Overall, it was a fun day, and not too bad of deals on tackle, but I would have liked to leave with a rod or reel. Oh well.

Anthony,

You Sir, have the willpower of a Franciscan monk to get out of there with as much skin left as you did.

Funny how the ol' KVD magic worked on your Dad, huh? Spinnerbait rod hehe. KVD is a marketing MACHINE, but in a good way.

How about that Premier? I'm glad that someone can now understand my obsession with that reel. It's like a work of art.

Just looking at it, I didn't think the foam grips were all that great, but those are comfortable! gorgeous reel.

Oh, and KVD's seminar went something like this:

spinner bait this, QUANTUM, spinnerbait that, STRIKE KING, trailer hook, STRIKE KINGs all have trailer hooks, STRIKE KING swimbait as a follow up, NITRO AND BPS. But I guess I can't blame him for pushing his sponsors.

BB, I was at the show as well today. I think I spent a little more then you... I ended up with 7 bags of stick worms, 5 bags of tubes, 1 bag of DS tubes, an Xcalibur jerkbait and a rat-l-trap. Two beers as well but that doesn't count.

But KVD does like to sell his stuff at seminars. I don't know if you noticed or not but when he was signing autographs at D&R (the tracker boats) right next to him was KD Outdoors and they had all the Strike King product out. Bet ya they made a killing after each seminar.....

My buddy was the old guy up front that was taking a picture when KVD tossed the spinnerbait right at him.

I couldn't see that. my dad and I were on the opposite side (on the dock side) of the lake. The seminar was still pretty informative.
