Default Hit a new lake today

Buddy of mine and I hit Upper Herring this morning.
Neither of us had fished it before and we wanted to check it out.
Nothing to brag about but we did nab 6 Largemouth, 4 pike, a rock bass and a gill.
Conditions weren't real great, frog bite was off, I was lost without it lol.
All my fish came on a spinnerbait but one, which came off an XPS Nitro Minnow.
My buddies came off a floating Rapala, and a worm for the gill.
Brings the "boat in this lake for the first time" count to 7
Bass
Bass Jr
Cedar Hedge
Mud
Upper Herring
Little Platte
Turtle

Yeah, we had a good time. Got most of the fish in about an hour, then someone flipped a switch somewhere and the action died.
Moved out a little deeper but not so much as a nibble. Headed toward a weed bed back in towards the shallows and got the gill and one of the pike.
I've been raggin on him and my brother to get out fishing with me this summer. Finally, one took me up on it. Silly Baxters!

In the summer, 98% of people wading in the Maumee River in Toledo are wearing shorts and old tennis shoes. They've been catching some nice smallie and decent numbers lately too.

Mallen, glad ya got some and possibly a new spot to fish. I didn't catch a thing today, lol.

We were in an area behind the pads and it was sandy bottom in about a foot of water. We were discussing how convenient it would be to hop out and walk back and forth fishin those pads.
Seems like a good lake although we didn't get any biguns. I do know though, that the occasional 10# Walleye is pulled from there.

Believe me, the older I get the more I am looking forward to the day when I can throw a tent and fishin gear in the car and make a road trip down south! Alabama is certainly high on the list!
Hafta go down to Hudsonville, Florida in early February for my daughter's graduation and I'm thinkin of turnin it into a fishin trip!
