target an area and cast the drop shot out, and let it sit, or gently wiggle the rod tip to give it some action. Don't need to swim it, think of it more like fishing a texas rigged worm, you work it slowly and let it stay in a area...great for grass, where you can put the worm about 18 inches above a bell type sinker or the sinker of your choosing

Do You Need To Adjust The Length Above The Bottom If I Am Fishing Rocky Ledges. I Didnt See Any Grass On The Fish Finder. Should I Move It Closer To The Bottom.

cast it into weeds and around cover, let it sit and raise and lower your rod tip and shake the bait without moving the weight at the end, adjust the length between your weight and hook depending on the cover and water level.

You can also add a few baits at different distances from the weight. Make sure you know your state's regulations on how many hooks per rod.

Are you fishing out of a boat or from the shore? Out of a boat, you can cast them, but most people just fish them vertically. You want to target bass that are 10"-18" off of bottom structure. Good structure is points, humps, and sometimes bridge pilings.Jigging, and shaking the tbait are very productive way to fish it.
Bank-shotting is not very popular, but used correctly can produce fish. Cast it out, slightly shake the bait, and the let it rest, but keep the line tight. You can drag it, hop it, or twitch it. Patience, and not overfishing it are the two essentials. Remeber to match you bait, and presentaion. For example you should jig the shad more than 6 inches at at time. This is just what works for me, around here. You will have to find out what works for you.
