local reservoir
I hit one of local reservoirs this morning and was it ever tough fishing . Caught three bass all under two pounds on a 7 inch berkley power worm in pumkinseed t-rigged and weightless. Also lost a zara spook and a skitter pop to trees , fishing form the bank i feel held me back a bit today as i could see bass hitting top water right out of my casting range , but on the boat front things are looking up i found a pelican bass raider for a good price and will prob make the trip a state over to get it . All in all i can't complain about the fish i got but wish there was a few more . And on a side note i got one of the worst backlashes i have ever had practicing skipping a swimbait so bad i haven't tried to deal with it yet , I'm hoping it will come out easily but if not snip snip i guess .

Lately casting the drop shot has been my most effective. My worm is a 4 in. renegade wor motor oil with red glitter. Took 5 Saturady with that method in under a hour.

The IDEAL weapon for skipping is...(Drum roll, plizz...)the spinning rig.
With my trusty St. Croix AVID AS68MXF I can skip a 5" Stinko dern near a hunnert miles...more or less The LowRider 5-167, similar to the AVID in that it has power in the butt and and XF tip, is a great choice...and for less $$$. I recommend #20 braid with a 6' pure fluoro leader (P-Line CFX, made specifically for leaders, y'see.) The fast tip and strong butt section (I loves to say "butt"....buttbuttbutt) are the key, IMHO, to skipping success. L6 |
