Potomac River is .....
Almost frozen over. 10 inch thick chunks of ice are building up above the WW Bridge.
It will not be long before you could throw a silver dollar accross it.. Capt Mike

It has been since the 90's, if I am not mistaken, since the river froze over.

One of my smarter students told me that he can walk about 100 yards out on the river at this time before it starts to get dangerous.....

You said it about the Darwinism at work. Check out this article about a guy here in MN trying to check out how thick the ice was.

Hey Capt Mike,
Is the river still frozen? With this warm front coming, it should be a nice couple of days to get out. I have been out when there is ice, but it was less then 1/2 thick. My aluminum boat breaks the ice nicely.
