Spinnerbait # test line
I was watching a KVD video about spinnerbaiting and he said that he uses 17# flourocarbon with his spinnerbaits. I about wigged out. I use 17# floro sometimes when I'm flipping, but never w/ a spinnerbait. Anyone else use that heavy of line with their spinnerbaits?

Would you recommend the KVD spinner video? Other than what colors/conditions (which is posted here in the archives) to use them, is it worth the money?

I use 14 lb low vis green myself. I want a thin diameter line but not braid. The floro will allow the blade to run a little deeper. A line that has some stretch will make for deeper hook sets.As far as brand goes thats your choice.I like trilene. Fish2win

lol 12 or 15 pound ande mono.. the bit of stretch that mono gives keeps from breaking the wire. i like light wire blades .35 of an inch or thinner.. yes the straighten them like a paper clip at times.. but i rarely break the fish off..tryied with braid broke 4 blades in a single day..
use what ya want but i WILL never put braid on my blades.. zooker

It depends on where you're fishing your spinner bait. If it's in open water, sure, I use 12# test because 10# breaks too easy under the stress of casting the spinner bait sometimes. If I'm fishing timber though I'll use 17# Berkley Suffix in the blue box b/c it casts easy and far and is super abrasion resistant when it comes to trees.

The video is o.k. It was on sale at BPS for 9.99 for 3 videos (couldn't quite pass it up) It was good, but really doesn' tell you anything you didn't already know. It is for a beginner apparenlty. I've heard his advanced spinnerbaiting video is real good though.

30# Power Pro, I fish a lot of timber. Have learned to give a second or two before setting the hook. Have lost a lot because of the no stretch of braid. Once I got a good feel and realized what was going on I adjusted. Don't lose many on spinnerbaits now.

I use 14 - 20 pound mono. I am usually working around heavy cover, such a downfalls, lillys, and so on. The heavier lines lets me hook that bass and over power him and keep him out of harms way, most of the time.

I strictly use 15, or 17 lb mono for spinnerbaits. The only exception is when I go to 30 lb braid when slow rolling in deep water. P N J

I like using flouro's for spinnerbaits, too. Braid is alright, but I don't like the feel as much. # test is usually 15-20

14 LB Suffix copolymer even around brush it holds up well. The baits I use are Daves spinnerbaits and they are basically weed/brush free. Why, I don't know, I've used other brands but they have a tendancy to hang up more than Daves. Even Hildebrandt's "oceechobie special" has this problem.
Maybe it's perhaps a thicker wire that also keeps from breaking.
