Neighborhood ponds
I caught 2 more today. One this morning and one more tonight. I told one of my neighbors about the ponds (he had no idea there were retention ponds in our neighborhood) while he was out walking with his wife and kids. He begged his wife to go fishing tonight. He did well. He caught 3 bass and one blue gill. The bass were caught on a rooster tail and the blue gill on a small jig. I just found out that the swamp is what feeds our ponds but only after heavy rains.

FNHNGN - Try using very large baits the next few times out. Big frogs, 12" worms, big jig with large trailer, etc.... Not a guarantee that a little one won't hit but your odds will improve.... got to get you over that hump!!!!

I caught 3 more yesterday evening so I am at 99 for the year. I plan on taking the boat out to a nice private lake this Saturday and try my luck. Hopefully the first one I catch is a hawg but I will settle for the 10th fish that day being the ONE.
I just don't think they are that big yet in our ponds. Last year during the summer, the ponds were bone dry due to a drought. We get some bigger bass in them when it rains a lot due to the swamp overflowing into the ponds. Some big ones get in but I imagine some of the bigs ones will also get back out. |
