Default Reel issue

I have a johnny Morris Elite that is starting to act up. About 20% of the time, the spool does not engage completely when I turn the handle. I usually just have to raise the button with my thumb to make it engage. I suspect that there is a worn spring that is causing it, but could it be something else as well? Thanks for any input.

Without seeing it, it sounds as though you may have a worn clutch paw, or clutch paw spring, easy fix in either case if you can find the part.

Sounds like it maybe a clutch paw problem like tav said. Did you maybe put the reel together wrong last time you cleaned it? or a spring thing like you said. If you've gotta broke one, or lost one.. the spring from a ball point bell works great!

It sounds like a spring problem to me. On the gearbox side of the reel, there will be a little torison type of sping that slips into a small hole by the thumb bar. If you have your schmeatics you can call the BPS Reel Parts center and order the part from them for minimal costs... should be around $2-3 plus shipping...
