New Camera (S3) some pics of my pets...

Got a Canon S3 for $286. The 12x zoom is great. Cant wait to get it out on the lake.

Heres some test shots I took of the blue gill I feed often....

I also bought the barrel adapter and polarized filter for shooting video. It can record 30 frams per second at 640px, or, 60 fps at 320 pixels. Hoping to get some good slow mo jumps. It can record up to 1 hour of vid.

Talked with my fishing buddy today. We tentatively set up a trip where Ill follow him in my kayak and take photos/video.

Guttboy: I havent seen a single bass since I moved into this place. Its full of blue gill and catfish.

Is that your lake? If so....what about stocking it with some fingerlings? My father in law used to "relocate" bass back to his farm ponds and it consistently catches bass ALL the time.

Careful about relocating, there are laws in some states about such.

Yep. The lake I fish is public, but, 100% unpatrolled by the FWC. Still not going to do it.

Was going to relocate some peacocks. My buddies dock has several hundred 2" ers swimming around it at the moment. Would be really easy.

If it is a public lake I would not do it.

If you owned the lake like my father in law does, then GO FOR IT!

It may be unpatrolled, but if for some reason the relocation has an ill effect on the pond/lake than they will go out and check it out. You still probably wouldnt get caught,. but its not worth risking the ponds ecosystem etc etc.

Thanks a lot, JRL! I was so impressed with your pictures that I immediately went to Ebay and bought an S3 that was going off in eight minutes! I've had it for a few days and taken a few shots on auto, it will take a while to really learn it's capabilities. I haven't tried to shoot video with it yet, I guess I'll figure that out when I'm fighting that ten pound largemouth I'm going to catch. It seems like a really nice camera for the money, much better than my HP.

Im with you on the taking a while to learn about what it can/cant do. Kind of a "to many options" thing.

I noticed that light plays a huge role in the amount of noise you will get in your photos. With my ISO at 200 Ive been getting pretty clean shots with it.

Found a cool feature on it today. If you hold down the macro button for 2 or 3 seconds it will set it to "super macro". I never realized how imperfect polished metal is. It picked up every little imperfection.

Right on! Polarization is THE most important "extra" one can employ during daylight.

Yep! The only problem I noticed with the polarized filter is that in dim light. Like early morning and late afternoon it can add quite a bit of noise to your photos. Other than that I love it.
