Reservoir Fishing - 6/14/10
Hit the local Reservoir again this morning. It was overcast with the occasional ray of sunshine breaking through, about 80* and super humid. The bite was tough, and I fished for a while with no bites.
The first ray of sun broke through the gray cloud cover, and almost immediately I got a hit. A hit and a miss. I casted my t-rigged June Bug Powerworm back to around the same spot and hooked up with this little guy. Like most of the bass in this reservoir, he was on the small side of the average 15-17". Casted a little while longer with the t-rig and gave the dropshot a try. Nothing. The sun broke though again and after a cast with the dropshot, I picked up the t-rig. Just as the sun was going behind a cloud, I hooked number 2. A little bigger than the last one, but still in the average range. Sun went away and didn't get another bite, lol. When it came back out, I had another hit and miss of the t-rig. I decided to rig my spinning rod up with a tube or something for a throwback lure. Then I found I had no tubes and decided on a beaver on a shaky head. I casted out the t-rig, crawled it about 15-20' and had another hit and miss... I picked up the shaky head and threw to were I casted before. I didn't even get to move the bait the 15-20' to were I had the other bite. As I was reeling in slack, my line moved off to the side. I set the hook and brought in this guy. Again, average size. Setups: (that caught fish) Dobyns Champion 733C (7'3" MH F), Daiwa Viento, 12lb Seaguar InvisX, 1/4oz Tungsten bullet weight, 4/0 Owner EWG hook, 7" June Bug Powerworm. St Croix Mojo Tube/Grub (7' M F), Pflueger Supreme 8030Mg, 15lb Spiderwire InvisiBraid, 8lb Seaguar InvisX leader, 1/8oz Owner Shaky Head Jig, 3"Watermelon PowerBait Beast. BB

Nice fish! Good way to break in the new rod and reel.
