I'm with you, i dislike spinning gear. Unfortunately for my fishing style it is a necessary evil. I'm going to give spinning gear a good honest go this year.

Default Reels

I'm retired and fish 4-6 days a week. I have several Pinnacle reels. They are Walmart specials and inexpensive. I'd recommend the Inertia model as a good starter. They sell for about $69. I've had mine for 14 months and with the use it gets(mostly spinnerbait and lipless crank bait fishing) it has held up a lot longer than I ever though. The guts are brass not plastic so it's not something you will wear out easily. It has 9 ball bearings and a smooth action.
