Default First Texas Rig haul!

I did it. I finally caught a fish on a Texas rig. And it was quick too. I had just flipped it out over this pier into some vegetation like cover. I had thrown a crankbait in there before so I knew I would have to work my way through it. But as soon as I began to reel the strike came. I have to get used to it because I’m so used to using bobbers for bluegill and crappie and even catfish. I’ve caught bass mainly on crankbaits. Although I had caught a bass on a worm, my rigging was horrible. I’m sure the bass were swimming by laughing at my rigging when they first saw it.

Now I keep my abu sx with suffix braid Texas rigged since you can rig multiple soft plastics with it. My other tackle I use mono so I can change from crankbaits, spinners, etc. I think my bass skills are slowly coming together. I really kind of stopped bass fishing because the action was few and far in between. It’s really tough when you don’t have a boat and are chasing them from the shore. I guess I just needed to try a new technique or two.
