Gatlinburg TN fishing...
Im going on vacation to gatlinburg in june for a week , the cabin we rented is right on a small river/stream. Its supposed to have trout in it. I am wondering what I need in terms of a fishing license , and what kind of tackle to use ? I would like to catch some small mouth too....

That area is a great place to visit. A lot things to see and play, but it will rape your wallet. We still go every two or three yrs. Really enjoy going.

You need an out of state license and a trout stamp. There's a few options, but your looking at 20-40 dollars. Bring a six pound test setup and a bunch of mepps. You'll have fun.

bps is in sevierville,tn. you will love it there. great store. been there twice.
as for trout fishing........ i would use a flyrod with popingflies or sinking flies. you can get a combo pretty cheap for occasional use. flys aren't too high either.

ok , I *may* give it a try. What I need to know is , whats a good , not very expensive set up ? I dont want alot of money in it , in case I get pi$$ed and throw it in the stream ( sometimes I get frustrated real bad ).

flyrod cmorg? go to wally world, combos there about 50 bucks, flys 2 bucks each maybe. just throw overhanded instead of underhanded. easy to learn. like throwing a ball, with more wrist action pal. check out a youtube video. sorry i ain't good on these puters to post one for ya. really it is easy to learn to flyfish. i learned at the age of 6. rainbow trout fishing in gatlinburg on family vacation too. caught a few way back then. when you learn to fly rod fish. try a big ol popping bug for bass this year. it is AWESUM when ya got a 2 pounder on man. and great for catching big ol gills too. i have a fly rod in the cajun at ALL times.
just remember to make the cast a fluid motion when you cast it. go slow at first. just like when you learned baitcasting. you'll get the hang of it man. then you'll be hooked on it too. hahahaha, think the monkey will take it easy on me now? hahahahaha.

Cool , I will do this. I seen BPS has a Pflueger combo for 90 ? I may go that route. What kind of flies ? I seen walmart has some popper kits there this year. I may get one of those kits.

Fly casting is less like throwing cause you arent really powering the rod. Casting distance is really more a result of timing and not how hard you do it.
