buzzbaits
talking to a buddy, he throws and has all kinds of buzzbaits, today we was both pining over missing the big bites on buzzbait in the summer, been trying it in the winter with no luck. any way he has all differant colors kinds and even some with two "buzzers" i beleive it s a bit over kill, my buzzbaits are in 3 colors, actually i only own 6, 2 white, 2 black, and 2 chartrouse.. so my question is when or why would you need to throw all these wild colors and models. also does the blades with the holes and ruff edges really make that much of a differance in the gurger of them, or should i say the effectivness of it.

You don't really need to have all of those different colors and styles. I fish buzzbaits a lot all summer and fish either black or white and that's it. Won a couple tournys last year on nothing but a black buzzbait. Only if the bluegill are schooling shallow will I break out a bright chartruese or firetiger colored bait.

My favorite buzzbait is this one, a black one with a clacker blade. The only others I really use a fair amount are black/gold and black/red (no clacker on them). I probably use the black clacker a lot because 2 of my top 6 bass all-time (5-2 and 4-12) came on that one. Personally, though, I don't really think the color matters much on a buzzbait. I think it's just the commotion they're going after, but I'm certainly no expert.

In my opinion you need a light, a dark and noisey. You choose the shades.
You may want to switch up and try a Ribbit or Sizmic toad or similar plastics. (may want to stay away from Rage Tails, rest are all good) Easy to get action fast or slow retrieve. Can let sink when passing over a hole. Can frankly swim it back just below surface if you want. But they really do have great buzzbait action when fished across the top. Dance thing can work but more of a marketing flop than anything.

Other than light and or dark can a fish tell the difference on some days absolutely
other days doesnt seem to make a difference, sound can it or its absence make a difference, sure can. Built this for grass pike yet some days the bass love it |

I tend to agree with bb86 on the buzz color. I have had excellent results throwing a bluegill color, especially during full moon phases in mar-apr-may-jun. I paint the blades green on one side and either chartreuse or off-white on the other. I've never thrown anything other than black at night.........duh

I try to bend up the arm the propeller is on just enough so it squeaks loud. On my best buzz bait I added a brass bead that rubs againt the prop and makes a loud squeak. I prefer the Strike-King buzzers with 3 blades on the prop.

For me the buzzs with the hole in the blade catch more fish. Those would be the Strike King Bleeding and the Cavitron. The color that works best for me is chartruse or yellow/gold.

I really just got hooked on buzzbaits bigtime last year, so I'm not the local expert by any means. I've done well with the Cavitron and Strike King buzzbaits as well as one sent to me by Nobass, but the brand name eludes me now. Unfortunately, that one was lost when my line snapped on a cast and sent it flying. But he sent me 4 that he made this year to try out. I'm looking foreward to that! I have several other brands to try out that I recieved for Christmas including Boogerman, Terminator and War Eagle. My favorite size is 3/8 oz although I have very good luck with the smaller 1/4 oz too. Primarily, I'll use black in the late evening, night, predawn and early dawn hours and when it's overcast. Once the sky brightens up a bit, I'll go with white or white/chartruese. I also have a couple with the bluegill skirts and gold blades that seem to work anytime. Probably because we have primarily a bluegill forage base in most of our lakes. I'll start with what I think will be the right choice and let the bass tell me what they want from there.

The idea behind the Dancin' buzz was that the fish didn't have to be aggressive enough to break the surface to eat it and it would look like a small fish (the blade) getting chased by a bigger fish (the body) and the bass would take advantage of the situation. A friend of mine bought one and caught a fish on his first cast, hasn't caught a fish with it since

outside of the blads being differant i guess one brand really wouldnt be better than another, since its just a blade and lead head, i mean it has to have a good hook and blade, anyway bought 3 today, gonna try em when i can

My all time producer is a Blk/Blu Strike King mini buzz (1/8 oz w/3 wings). I have caught dinks and up to 5-6 lbs on them. I love to just barely make them break the surface of the water.
I bought a couple of Cavitrons when Dicks opened, but I haven't got a bite yet. Maybe this year.

Booyah makes good buzzbaits. The pip squeak is a nice one that makes a lot of noise right out of the package. I might also get a couple cavitron buzz baits this year too.
As far as colors. I use 3 main ones: white, black, chartreuse. BB

A simple Hart available at walley world lil over 3 bucks works great on Ky lake,it has holes in the blades, gurgles and squeaks.Simple trick to make more noise is to crimp the rivet down solid so it wont turn with the blade.Makes a noise when broke in akin to a rusty hinge.
