Itsy bitsy my arse that's a black widow!

Picked up a tarp this moring. It had been laying on the edge of the walkway for a week or two. A large wolf spider took off across the ground and I noticed a shiny black spider on the tarp. I looked a little closer and saw the red on the belly so I poked her with the cell phone and snapped a photo. I then flipped the tarp over and sure enough two more, the third being the largest, on the other side. Cell phone doesn't take good close ups .
First time I've ever seen a black widow and I come across three of them. I've got to get me a can of spray and go on a spider hunt.

hahahahaha, 3d they ain't NEAR as bad as a BROWN RECLUS. got bitten by one once....left a hole the size of a half dollar in my leg for about a month. hurt too.and the smell of rotten flesh from the bite wasn't nice either. gives me the shivers just thinking bout it.

We've got them both and I've seen a Brown before. Really don't want to get bit by either one hence the spider hunt. I probably got a couple out in the shed too. We had a couple Black's here at work last spring living in the green house. Never got up to see them before they were dealt with.

one time i fliped over a 55 gal. drum and a whole nest of them were under there probably 15-20. needless to say i got the heck outa there

We have them all over out here. I have to pressure wash my house weekly to keep them away. The widows are not too bad as long as you don't mess with them. Hot shot makes a great spider spray that will take care of widows and recluse. I like it because you don't have to get oo darn close.

Amen to the HOTSHOT. Just wait till the brown widows make it up there. Just like the black ones. They are brown w/ yellow striping on the legs and the tell tale red on the belly. I swear these things multiply faster than rabbits.

The widows don't spook me much. I have been bitten before, and while it was not enjoyable, I never felt my life was in danger. That being said, I had a tarantual make it into the garage yesterday. I am not a fan of any bug I can hear moving around before I see it. I had figured a lizard had gotten behind the tool bench. I heard it for about ten minutes until I finally moved the bench. I am not too proud to say I yelled when I saw that thing looking back at me.

I got a guy from my church doing mission work in Balivia (spelling) and he said they have spiders as big as pie plates you can here walking across the house roof. SCREW that!!!!!!

We got the brown recluses up here never been bite by one but hate dealing with um none the less .

Found a fourth one under the tarp today. Scooped him up and brought him to work for a science teacher. He loved it but taped the container just in case one of the numbskulls thought to open it up to take a look. All we need is for one to get bit and blame the teacher for having it in a biology class.

I used to live in a house that was recluse infested with a yard that was widow infested. What a **** place to live. Haha. I still shake my shoes out before I put them on in the morn.

At the farm I work at we were cuttin trees, loadin em into a truck, and moving them to a burn pile and unloading them. At the end of the day, as I was sweepin out the bed, (after I'd handled the logs three separate times) I found two widows on the floor of the bed......Gave me a nice little shiver

Dang! They are common in SC as well, I have not seen one yet...knock on wood! The latest and oddest species of spiders I have seen so far are these spikey looking ones about the size of a dime or nickel. They are bright colors too! My neighbor's kids call them "pokemon spiders".

^^^^Crab spiders. I don't think they bite, I've taken a whole lot of them to the face early in the morning, b/c they like to put their webs all around and on the way to my treestand....

Found #5 on the front porch. This one's the biggest yet. Gonna see how big she gets this month and I'll snap a pic for everyone. Should get pretty big. I need to leave the porch light on at night to attract the insects so she can feeeeeeeed!!!!!!!

You guy's wouldnt think we get them uop here in the great white north, "but" we do!. they hitch rides on your fruits and vegtables they we get up here in the winter months. Bananas from furter south we get the large and fuzzy taranchalas* (spelling) altough I don't think anyone has been bitten, it could they could start multiplying up here lie the possume has.

ive seen a brown recluse,,,, my neibhor has rocks around his house and we go and pick them up..you will find one bout every three or four rocks,well the house next to his we found a nest of them,,, dont know how many times ive and all the kids around has put there hand in there before,or played or sit around it ,, i hate spiders any of them found one in the shower this morning

Down here they are quite common, not such a big deal when you take in consideration that there are more poisonous critters around, we´ve got scorpions.

We get black widows in our patio area every now and then since we do not use it all that much. Big fuss are only made by my wife (she is terrified of any spider). I am just careful around things in and around my garage, patio, and backyard that do not get used that much. I always check for spiders and snakes. Just be careful with stuff around the house that hasn't been moved or used in a while. Make a special note to check around and under the seat of a riding lawn mower.

Not one but found five around the house. Just unusual for me. I've never seen one and I used to go exploring up and down the creek behind the house growing up. Not afraid of them or snakes.
