Default Upgrade

Finally got the upgrade to the website finished. Added a page or two with the jigs and skirts. Put a few links on there as well. Took a long time but with the changes made all future updates will be much easier.

3dkicker, I enjoyed the story and like your website. I lost my father a year ago this month, his name David Smith aka Smitty to some of his friends. My son known as the Bassinbandit on here is also called Smitty. Made me smile when I saw your name.

I like your site but I noticed a problem, and I hope you don't mind if I point it out? I found that I was waiting for pictures of the jigs to load, it was taking quite awhile, which is odd cause i've got a high speed dsl connection and pics usually load in a flash.....so I wondered what was up and decided to pull one of the jig pictures and take a closer look at it in Photoshop, and when it opened up I knew right away what was happening.....the original picture was 2032 X 1354 pixels and over one megabyte in size....no wonder that page was taking so long to load....those are huge pictures and need to be resized in a program like Photoshop before loading them into your web building software.

I can only assume that you used full size pics from your digital camera and the website building software your using did the resizing for you maybe?.......only problem is the picture shown on screen at your website is small in size(262 X 175 pixels)but the actual file being loaded in the background is huge(2032 X 1354)....Does that make sense?

The jig page was the only one that loaded slowly for me so I did not check any of the other pics on your site, but you may want to look into this problem......don't wanna loose a sale because someone is still using a 56k modem and don't wanna wait for your pics to load.

my suggestion for pics being too big,

is download irfan view from their website
http://www.irfanview.com/

i resize all my pics, normally to a 20%

if you get it, open a file and hit Ctrl+R

then click the by percentage and type in 20 and hit enter, and it resizes for you, mine are in the neighborhood of 6**X4**

and they are then a decent size for even dial-up modems.

This was shot with a D60 at 10Mb and its 774x518. plenty big to see what you need to see.

[yeah i took it]

nice pic!

imageshack allows you to resize any picture as you upload it, another way of getting the job done

66 - Thanks. I knew that there would be a glitch or two or an oversight and you've found one. When we loaded the photo's for that page we didn't check the size. It was a last minute change that was made due to there being multiple files of the same page. Now I can go back in and make the changes.

Bcklash - You'd be surprised at the number of David Smith's I've met over the years. There were two of us in 7th grade. Got the Asst Principal all confused and I got called to the office quite a bit until he figured things out. Friends started calling me Smitty back in college and then again when I moved here to the Fredericksburg area. I incorporated the nickname into the business. Kind of a way to seperate the business from the personal life. Knucklehead has a story all to it's self
