Florida Lakes Topo Maps

Well I have spent about 3 hours total trying to find a site with some topo maps of Florida Lakes. Garmin was the best I found, however I don't have anything Garmin to use to see these maps, and you can't print them. I have no problem with paying for some of the maps I'm interested in, however I don't have a GPS to use for this. I just want hard copies of the lakes, which has good topo information. I'm not looking for "HOT SPOTS", I will find my own. If anyone knows of a site that would have these types of maps I would greatly appreciate the help.

Looking for more of the St John's River, and the attached lakes, Rodman, George, Little George, Dunn's Creek, Palatka, Welaka, etc... Most of the tourneys seem to launch out of the St John's, so we can run to wherever we like, gas being the deciding factor.(If we have enough LOL)

There is a map I have seen made by Kingfisher found in most Bait and Tackle shops along the St. Johns and in Marinas, don't know if its what your looking for though!

I already have it, but not enough detail for specific areas. It covers the Northern, Southern, or Central St John's. That's a huge area for them to cover, they are good for channel marker locations etc... But not actual underwater drops, humps, channels etc...

Dam,

Topozone I went and already looked at, they just don't have any detail of the waters bottom. They have the topo of the edges, and surrounding areas, but not the water, I'll check microsoft terraserver again. But I thought that was just aerial photo's?

This link has some online topo maps of the big florida lakes and its free. Thought you might like to see it. Print out what you want if you want it.

Terraserver will just be aerial photos and land topo maps; no underwater information except for certain reservoirs.

Thanks WTL, that's better than anything else I've found, just got to get a bunch of ink cartridges LOL. I still can't believe there isn't someone who has put together some detailed maps for sale or otherwise like this, with more detailed info. Anyways thanks again I really appreciate everyone's help.

Don't know if it has the detail that you are looking for or not. I looked at the map of Lake George and there wasn't a whole lot of detail. If you pull up Lake Monroe it has a lot more detail. I think a lot of it has to do with how detailed the topo studies were for those areas. It could be that they just never got that detailed for some of the Florida lakes.

Actually I already had hit the maptech site(that's the link on bassresource.com). No details of the lakes

Guess there just isn't enough fisherman out there making maps, were all fishing rotfl.

I'm guessing that the lakes that your fishing in FLA are natural lakes. I have a feeling that there may have never been a good topo study done of those lakes. Lake Monroe which your familiar with is a man made resevoir. I'm guessing that the Army Corp of Engineers would have had a pretty detailed topo study done sometime during the creation of the lake. I may be completely off base here but I'm guessing that's the reason why some lakes have better topo maps than others.

Weaver, you are correct I believe.

In fact, on topozone.com you can find some lakes with topo information. Normally this occurs when you are looking for info on a newer reservoir, what they do is they take the old countours pre-impoundment and just fill it in with a shade to denote the shore of the lake. Its not really great for fishing info, but on many lakes thats the best type info you can get. Only the really big important lakes seem to have valuable topo info compiled just out of a concern for navigation or fishing.

And face it, most Florida lakes don't have much variation topographically anyway.

The fwc might have something. They print topos of ocala and osceola that we use for hunting. Come to think of it, we have a book "Fishing Inside Florida" which is probably long out o print with lots of topos. I'll do some r&d for you.......
