New MD State Record???
Got word that a new Maryland record largemouth was caught yesterday, 11lbs 09 oz, on the Potomac river up near D.C. The Game and Fish had to confirm it first.
Here's a photo a friend sent of the fish. |

Can't really say. From the photo I would guess that the fish was being held in the boat livewell until G&F arrived to officially weigh the bass. I'm guessing that more information will be coming out soon. We (R&R Custom Lures and Smitty's Tacklebox staff) were out for dinner last night after the show and ran into some other tournament guys at the Outback who had heard about the fish. Other than the supposed weight and the photo it's still a fish story.

Got the update today. Fish weighed 11.18 lbs and is now swimming in the BPS tank just outside Baltimore. G&F still need to verify weight for the state record which is 11.10 lbs. Going to be close. Fish was caught on a blade bait according to the latest in 38 degree water.

Better weigh 'er quick or she'll stress out and lose weight!

Not luck, the fish was part of a big 5 fish limit (even if it was only 6lbs). Fish was caught in a well known wintering spot on the river. Guy who caught it fishes a lot of tournaments and was fishing an Angler's Choice event.

I was up fishing the same spot two days prior to Justin catching that hawg. Wrong place/wrong time huh? lol She is a beauty. Erik at BPS is taking care of her in the quarantine tank. She should be placed in the big tank 30-60 days when sure all parasites are gone so there is no contamination.

Looks like the 11lbs 9oz weight I originally posted had some merit to it after all.
I guess the "spoils" will be loaded with boats this weekend. And there will be tournaments on the river this weekend too. |

Very nice. Many years ago the DNR shocked a 12.3 and released it.
The record is due to be broken.. Sweet bass on a gay blade.. Capt Mike

Excellent catch
Thats a great fish, the 1 we all look for. Guess i was a little late, i fished the spoils that day but got there a little later, I also went there the following Saturday and was very surprized that they're were only 3 boats in the area, But i got a 6.8 off 1 of the slabs out in the middle. No pics but i'm sure the other 3 boats saw it, not bragging just enjoying the thought of it.
