If you can dive 85 feet, search around, and make it back to the surface, I'd love to see it.

There are way to many 75lbs+ cats caught out of lake for me to want to dive to the bottom. Noodling takes on a whole new danger level when the weight of the fish exceeds the depth of the water.

Now hear this. This is the Captain speaking.

That ain't structure. It's cover, actually.
The Curtiss SB2C (Scout Bomber, 2 Design, (from) Curtiss,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocSxH...m=PL&index=105
"Helldiver" replaced the famous SBD-5 (Scout Bomber, Douglas-5th modification), "Dauntless" (See: Battle of Midway)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLpnWLxeZq4
and while a more powerful aircraft, capable of carrying a heavier weapons load at higher speeds, had some quirky handling characteristics that caused Naval and Marine aviators to define "SB2C" as "Son of a *****, Second class".
The "Helldiver", however, did prove to be a most effective aircraft after all was said and done and remained in squadron service for a short time post-WW2 until the advent of more modern aircraft designed under the new "Attack" designation, such as the AD series (Attack, Douglas) "Skyraider" that earned fame in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and was affectionately called "The SPAD" (Slow, Propeller, etc.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5kNlb0prOE
"Structure" refers to features such as ledges, humps, points, channels, and other formations, natural or manmade. "Cover", regardless of location, refers to trees, layovers, boat docks, wrecks (even airplanes), etc.

Carry on.

I would debate that an item the size of a plane would turn into to structure after 60 years. I am willing ot bet that it has sunk considerably and is now covered with enough mud and vegitation to be a ledge.

Cass,

I intended no offense, but the two terms are often misused. I guess any object could become embedded to a degree that it might be virtually indistinguishable from the true structure but if that SB2C was plainly (planely?) identifiable as an aircraft...welllll.
BTW, those SPADs worked for me several times during my sojourn in Vietnam, although by that time they had been dropped from the USN's arsenal and were mostly flown by brave little VNAF pilots. I watched in admiration and horror one day as one of them gave his life in a fiery crash to assure that his SPAD, having lost the engine on climb-out, did not impact a tightly packed residential area that included a school.
The USAF SPADS labored on as cover for the big helos that rescued downed aviators.
One of my very best friends, an old high school band buddy and retired USAF LtC, is still easily riled when I remind him that both the SPAD and the famed F4 Phantom fighter were originally Navy birds that the USAF had to "borrow", in the case of the SPAD, or order in the case of the Phantom. Most SPADs used by the USAF were actually rescued from the desert boneyard and restored for use.
I occasionally had the opportunity to stand and watch VNAF SPADs crank up and take off...What a glorious racket those enormous radials made...lotsa smoke too, upon startup.
When a SPAD made a gun run for me, all four 20MM cannon ablaze, it was almost surreal, though nothing is so otherworldly as an AC-119 or AC-130 gunship's sound and light show.
When a SPAD dropped napalm...OMG! I actually cringed and was sometimes in tears in the turret of my M48A3 as I imagined what it was doing to other humans and the animal life enveloped in the horribly beautiful orange "blossom". I hated having to call for it, but as the commander-in-charge, well, one did what one had to do.
Well, I do digress.
Peace. Out.

The detail that the Humminbird SI units show up is incredible so it doesn't surprise me at all that they were able to see the plane. On a local lake here I found 3 cars and a big bridge, but no airplanes yet.
