Default Do you eat Mackerel???

I often see cans of mackerel on the shelf at the grociery store and at the same time I never see mackerel in the fresh food dept. I've never ate mackerel and I'm wondering if anyone here has? What other fish would you compare it to taste wise, and how woould you prepare it? I can only find it canned.

It's great if you like canned fish!!

Spanich mack, and King mack, are some of my favorite fish out there!

Now if you come down to Fl, if you get a nice 2' baracuda, BEST FISH OUT THERE!!!!

Mackerel whether it be spanish, cero, or king is great smoked or fried up. Yeah not too many stores carry it but they are easy to catch you can just slow troll beaches with spoons or chase the schools if you live by the ocean...

Most people who catch mackerel just don't know what to do with it. You have to get it on ice right away, like any oily fish, or it's going to taste very fishy. If you do it right, mackerel is very tasty. It's also good for fish cakes, like other oily fish.
