Default Soup!

As I sit here enjoying a hot bowl of my mom's homemade chicken noodle soup with some freshly cracked black pepper on top, I was thinking about soup. Soup is something we make a lot during the winter, and I was wondering what is your guys' favorite soups. (Recipes would be nice!)

Here's my top couple.

1. Chili: while I love a good chili with a bit of a bite to it (not so much that it ruins the taste), but occasionally, my grandma's very simple chili is just awesome with some cheese and onions on it!

2. Vegetable: Especially my mom's homemade vegetable. Also with some extra black pepper. yumm.

3. And a third would have to be one my mom started making a couple winters ago. Italian Peasant Soup. It's got chunks of chicken, italian sausage, beans, and more. We also add some small noodles, usually Ditalini. Here's a recipe very similar to the one we use: http://www.recipezaar.com/Italian-Peasant-Soup-51699

So lets here your favorites and maybe some recipes (especially chili recipes, I'd love some new Chili recipes!)

I really like Cream of Mushroom soup. However, if I'm willing to spend the bucks when I go out to eat (very seldom), I love a good bowl of Cioppino.

I would go with Chili in the crock pot as my number one choice. One year I made it a little too hot (it hurt for a couple of days...)

Second would be my dad's bean and ham soup. That can stink up a cabin really bad

I thought you were going to say turkey soup. That is next on the menu here, we've had it every other way possible.

Been there done that.

The best soup I ever made was a throw together. Was defrosting the freezer and pulling out meat and veggies that just wasn't enough of to make a meal. Browned the meat and threw it all together in the crock pot with some beef broth and let it cook all day. Happened to have a peice of a box of rigatoni that I put in, some salt and pepper and a little chilli powder. Can't really remember exactly what all got put in there, tomatos, corn, peas, green beans, deer, pork and chicken I think. Was good though.

Ah Chili-con-carni...the easy way:

In a large pot, fry 4 strips of bacon until cooked. Remove and dice the bacon. DO NOT DRAIN THE BACON FAT. Add 1 minced medium onion and 1 or 2 tbls. of minced garlic. Saute until nearly cooked. Add 2 lbs. of 80% ground beef and re-add the diced bacon. Season with favorite seasonings (I like Season All and chili powder). When ground beef has browned, add 2 large cans of tomato soup, one medium jar of salsa (heat to your liking), two cans of drained kidney beans. Slow cook for a few hours. Enjoy.

Hahahahaha!!!

This brings back not so good memories. When I lived on Saipan, I said I love my dad's Chili, and turns out, in Chamorro chili, means D!ck.

Anyways, I do really like my dad chili (chuckles to self), and chicken/turkey soup.

I'll have to get my dad on here to post the recipes

Chicken and dumplings.......Thats about as ''soup'' as I get...Is chili a soup?
Then throw in some Velvet cheese and fritos and put me down for that too!
No beans though,I heard that causes E.D.........or was it gas?

It only causes E.D. if she eats beans.

i want to point out real chili con carni has NO beans in it..the name means "chili peppers with meat"..

now me i am NOT a soup guy.

i do a "dry" chili specially if i can get some left over garbage pail goat in with the beef and chicken mix... i like mine medium hot-read that "hot" for you all- about 6 pickeled pinos or 3 chipoli peppers, green peppers, red onions, some dry roasted chili peppers. among other od ball things i add a bananna-sweetens the mix-

you'll note no pork.. belive me pork and goat don't mix well..if i can't get goat i'll use pork..

plese note "dry" chili has very limited amount of moisture added. where as most "wet" chili has quite a bit of juice added.the tomatoes are the biggest key..

bassboss

chamorra chili means coating chilli.. tradtionally a very thin chili sauce ment for basting/marinating..
