Default Monkey walked off...

I made a post earlier: "Nothing much to brag about..." But I got a phone call from my buddy today that he couldn't find his bag. I told him that I might have picked it up when we cleaned out the boat, and I would look because we came in different vehicles. But then he told me it was a 54" duffle bag in his truck. I knew I hadn't picked up that bag. My buddy went on to tell me that he either left or some one lifted the bag with around 2 grand in tackle in it. The bag was full of assorted swim baits and all other kinds of tackle. He said he might have left it at the ramp, but went back to find nothing. He also said his box was unlocked on his truck and he lives in a populated apartment complex. Moral of the story, we all leave things laying around sometimes. So be sure to double check your boxes if you transfer them at the ramp or anywhere else for that matter. It's not like he left a coke on the bumper. 2 Gs worth of tackle, man that is sickning.

That sucks. I think a lot of us has had tackle lifted before, and it always makes you wish the perpetrators get the type of fishing luck they deserve with stolen tackle. Part of the problem is how much stuff we all have, its so easy to forget something. The moral is a good one, you have to be more careful, not only to prevent theft, but plain losing stuff. I've gotten to where I try to keep a list to check off on, but I'm not always good with that.

That stinks man. But I now live in an apartment complex and, crowded or not, I never leave anything unlocked or just lying around. Theft of convenience is what happens most of the time. I am pretty lucky that 2 police officers live in buildings just 2 buildings over on each side and their cars are very visible in the parking lot. Plus an FBI agent just happens to live across from me.

And a check list is a great idea WTL. I do that when I go fishing. I check it before I leave the apartment, when I am at the dock or getting on the boat, when I am about to leave and again when I put my stuff back away at the apartment. I also helps that I have a little OCD.

Wow, that really, really sucks! I once left all my stuff at a pond once, the pond was also at a community park! It was there for a day, night, and morning, we went back to see if it was all there, and by God it was! We got lucky that time!

Scum bag's are everywhere they will eventually get what's coming to them!! I was fishing at a local pond with my kids this spring. I didn't carry all my stuff down to the lake and left a bag of stuff on the back seat. Needless to say couple hours later got back window broke tackle bag gone and noone saw nothin!! But somehow they did leave my I-Pod and GPS hanging on the windshield. A couple years ago I went out fishing with a buddy of mine. He own's a Bullet 21XD we fished for a good 5 hours or so. When we got back to the ramp we found his trailer on blocks (very nice of them ars holes to at least block it up though) with the rims and tires gone!!!!

Stuff like this makes me want to get out my old RFID kit and start putting chips in stealthy places. Believe me, if I lost a bag with 2 grand in it, I would definitely be taking a few runs around the lake with a radio transmitter, just hoping for a return. Needless to say, there would be an auto shotgun in my rod locker.

Check list are great help.

I had a friend who every night wrote a list of things to do the next day.

#1 was wake up..

Every evening he told his wife that he got one thing done today and tommorow he will try for a few more items on his list.

But alas he could achieve one thing a day..

Update! Just a little FYI. We had a poker game tonight and my buddy said the game warden's son found his bag sitting by the ramp that night. He said the kid called his dad and told him there was a bag and he was afraid to open it. He said he thought it might be a dead animal or a person. But the kid finally mustered up and opened it to find the tackle. He said his girlfriend gave the kid 300, instead of the 100 reward through poor communication with her since he was on a land rig, but he was glad to get it back.
