Dam 2-10-07
MY moms friend just bought a house on a dam about an hour from here, so We went and spent the day with her. I launch her conoe into "unexplored" waters. I start out with a wacky rigged senko in sweet potato pie, and quickly get 4 dinks in about 40 minutes. The bottom is sand, with some large patches of tall weeds, looking more like flowers than "weeds". I then put on a pumpkinseed 3" tube t-rigged. 4th cast against a large rock, and I hook a slab smallie!! yes a smallie!! It was on for about 20 seconds before it jumped and threw the hook I think it was about 3-4 pounds. My PB smallie is 4 inches, so this was a big deal for me. I fished for another 45 minutes before We had to go, and only 1 bluegill in that time. Whats good is, tomorow after church we are going back, because they are throwing a party and stuff like that. All i know is, I will be fishing! I took pics of the bass, and Ill put them up tonight. Maybe then someone can ID the weeds and give me some tips on what to use for smallies.

oh and here are the details
very clear water its deepest is about 16 feet deep, you can almost see the bottom. rocky and "weedy" in some places. on one side there is a 50' rock wall that runs straight into the water. hardly any bluegill or panfish, but alot of schooling minnows about 1-2 inches in lenth really skinny. |

Throw a super fluke, a small swimbait or sight fish.
