Default Black Friday Purchases?

Or as Chuck said in the chat one night, it's more like Broke Friday!

So what did the monkey get you guys for?

As for me, a couple of you guys know from PMs and texts, but I'll post pics later this week when the package arrives!

Humminbird 798cSI, Cabela's had it for $699 w/free shipping. They were $100 cheaper than BPS, couldn't beat that deal. If I like it, I see the 898cSI or possibly the 998cSI in my future, and goodby Lowrance!

I figured I wasn't, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who got bit hard.

Judging by a couple of the hauls mentioned, I think Mellencamp had the bait monkey in mind when he wrote Hurt So Good

He's lyin wait, Cass. One day, when you least expect it, the monkey will launch off the trampoline and land directly on your back.

I know he his Mallen and I will be ready when it happens. I am hoping that a few Christmas gift cards will feed the monkey well enough for the start of the year.

I was lucky the check I was waiting for got mailed to the wrong address.....that's how I beat the monkey. No money to spend. But he's waiting and usually gets me at the Richmond show coming up in January.

I'm waitting for the BPS spring sale. Maybe by then I'll have a couple extra bucks sittin around, lol. There are a couple Lucky Craft cranks I'm lookin at real hard.

Thats what I'm thinkin John. And making matters worse, my life insurance policy renews this month and they want to raise my monthly payment from $54.00 a month to $366.00 per month! They can stick that where it don't shine!!!

I didn't get anything in on black Friday, but cyber monday got a few dollars from me. 25 cork grips from Mudhole at .99/piece. And I got a few decals to boot with it for .99 too.

Alright, the moment you've all been waiting for (or at least the moment I'VE been waiting for! )!

I got home from school to find the Fedex pulling out of my driveway, and the nice little PVC tube on my front porch from The Hook Up Tackle. Unfortunately, I had to leave right away to run some errands... I know, it was aweful...

Anyways, I removed the nicely packed contents out of the tube. Bubble wrap on both ends and in the middle to support it in the tube.

But wait, what's this?!

Yep, the baitmonkey got me bad. There's two rods there.

All Dobyns rods ship with their own little foam tip protectors. No way you're going to get a broken tip guide with these on there.

From the tips, down to the butts, beautiful rods.

The Dobyns Champion Extreme rods come loaded with Kigan Zirconia guides, while the Champion series come with SiC (don't know why that's not on the tag ).

Number one, a Dobyns Champion Extreme Mike Long Jig Rod (DX784CML).

And the second, a Dobyns Champion 765CB Glass crankin' stick (765CB GLASS).

It's 33 degrees here, with a wind chill of about 26. Needless to say, I put reels on these rods and went out to our pond to give them a try. Because of the wind, it's only about half iced over, so I could still give them a try until my hands went number.

I tied a Strike King Series 6 crankbait (3/4oz) on the 765CB Glass. It casted it absolutely great. I could throw the crank quite a ways, even into the wind. I tied on what the Mike Long Jig rod was designed to throw, a 1/2oz jig. Great tip action to cast a jig (I'd say it would easily cast a 1/4 oz jigs), and it has plenty of backbone to set the hook even when fishing football jigs in deep water. This is the rod I'm most looking forward to fishing next year.

Hope you guys enjoy the pics, cause I sure will enjoy the rods!

BB

Awesome! Glad they arrived safely and quickly. It is pretty brutal that you won't be able to use them for a good 4 months!

Now it's time to buy some reels!
