Default Your Dream fish

We all love bass, and where ever we may roam, we will always return to them. But...

I know a lot of us have that one dream fish we would love to land, and may even be planing a future trip to try for it. For me it is the Arapaima. Considered by many to be the largest fresh water fish in the world, they can reach nearly 10 feet in length, and weigh almost a thousand pounds. The live in a handful of rivers and tributaries in the Amazon basin. There are many fish I want to catch, Peacock Bass, Flathead Carp, Tarpon, Jewfish (Goliath Grouper), even the Lemon Shark, but the Arapaima is at the top of my list!

Not my fish... lol

What is your dream species? And maybe you have even caught it, if so please share the experience!

I'd love to catch a 60" musky. For those of you who don't know musky, you're good when you make it to the 50" club.

Either that or a 18-20lb Steelhead, although I don't think they get that big in Ohio. Gotta go up in Michigan, and even then that's a huge fish. Although we get more fish here than in Michigan.

I would be totally thrilled to catch a 5 or 6lb Smallmouth or maybe a Shoal Bass. They are such beautiful fish and we don't have many of them in Texas. You northern guys should consider yourselves lucky.

I would love to catch big Redfish in the Gulf, Tarpon in Florida, Peacock Bass in S.A, heck I would love to catch a Largemouth over 10 lbs.

Realistic goals would be a smallmouth or walleye...
And I would love to learn flyfishing and hit trout out of a stream while smoking a cigar...The ciger is optional.

My dream species would be a Bluefin Tuna. I'd probably get my butt kicked, and probably wouldn't even be able to handle the entire fight, but landing one of those beasts sure looks like it would be fun!

they aint fun it's more like but draggin work..first they troll for blue fins at around 20 mph. the blue fin has a burst speed of 60mph average speed is around 40mph during a fight.they can turn on a dime at those speeds..6 hour fights are common. weve hookup to a BIG finner for 5 hours just to have him kick it and break off the hook...in the winter i know of boats heading out charging $100 a head 6 man limit to pursue blue fin. i have never boated a fin with just one man in the chair.it too 3 of us to boat my 800+ pound blue fin-he was tagged and released- be ready to not be able to lift your arms above your shoulders for a week..

I forget where in Texas you are, but there are some smallmouth and guadelupe bass in the center or the state, rivers and such.

I want to catch a quality Atlantic Salmon somewhere in the British Isles or perhaps Russia.

I would also like perhaps a Marble trout from say Slovenia.

I wanted to fish the amazon, but then I saw a TV show with a guy who fishes worldwild where he detailed the story of a south american man who apparently had a fish swim inside him while he was peeing in the water. I then crossed south america off the list.

LMAO...

There is a very simple solution to that problem. They make candiru proof underwear...

I call them underwear, because lets face it, no one wants to see those on the average male body...

This year I plan to fish for black fin tuna on the fly in CT.

Next year I go to CANADA for pike on the fly on a fly in trip.

The bucket list is getting smaller the nice thing is "I can always add trips"

Wow, Zook, I knew they were bad to the bone, but didn't realize a fight would last that long. I was thinking 2 hours or so. I guess FUN was the wrong word...maybe I should have said rewarding. Either way, I'd still like to see what it feels like.

I'm in Dallas. There are a few lakes in Texas that have Smallmouths, Texoma and Belton off the top of my head. That goal is pretty obtainable.

I just found out Lake Grapevine holds Smallies
Guy from ''Ft worth'' posted ''Vine smallie''with a pic on TFF...Im assuming thats gansta slang for grapevine lake.
I know Lake Whitney does do.

Smallmouth is a reasonable distance..Maybe an hour or so..Guaps and Walleye is a 5hr to 7hr trip.

I think there are places you can go in south Florida that you can get 'um in sight of land. But really, getting out in the open ocean away from everything is half the fun bro!

I've had the opportunity to catch some great fish including large walleye, northern pike, smallmouth, steelhead, trout, salmon etc. But a couple I would love to catch....a 60" musky would be on the list as would be a large tarpon but topping my list would be one of those giant 15 to 20 pound LMBs!!!!
