Rods and reels

I have recently been debating on the types of rods and reels i want to use. My price budget is only about a 100$ rod and a 100$ reel. I have been leaning towards bps pro qualifiers and bps carbonlites. I was just wandering what you all would recommend.

The PQs are the best reel in that range, IMO. There are also a bunch of good rods in that range, so pick the one you like best and FEELS best in your hand.

I like the carbonlite series. BPS pro qualifiers are good reels.

As others have said, the BPS Pro Qualifier is a good reel. I would also take a look at the lews reel at that price point, I have one and I like it a lot. I have 3 different Carbonlite rods, and I love them. Super light and sensitive but with plenty of backbone.

What Keith and Dave said. The PQ has become my favorite reel and I have several. You can't beat it in that price range. Keep an eye out because they periodically go on sale for $79. Lots of rods in that range. I highly recommend going someplace that sells rods and handle a few to find out which one feels right to you. That way you will know you are getting the right rod.

Do yourself a favor and buy at least one Academy H2O Mettle. Top price, $50, on sale for $30. Google the reel and it's reviews. Buy one, I dare you.

The PQ is a great value, even more so on sale. They are well built and come in a range of configurations. The Carbonlites are ok, but the way they achieve the lower weight is obviously not the same as on a higher end reel.
